Man Arrested After Driving Stolen Vehicle

A Hamilton man has been arrested by Hamilton Police and faces several criminal charges involving a stolen motor vehicle.

On Sunday, April, 18, 2021 shortly before 5:00 p.m., Hamilton Police received notification of a stolen vehicle that was being monitored remotely, travelling on the Hamilton Mountain.

Police located the vehicle travelling westbound on Chippewa Road near Tyneside Road. Once the driver viewed police cruisers in the area, it began traveling dangerously and at high speeds. The stolen vehicle was remotely immobilized, which reduced the vehicle's ability to accelerate and avoid capture.

Police activated the cruiser emergency lights however the driver was not compliant. The stolen vehicle was successfully stopped. Multiple attempts were made verbally for the driver to exit the vehicle however they were disregarded.

The driver was removed from the vehicle and arrested without injury.

Minimal damage to the police vehicles.

The male was charged with several offences, and held in custody with his bail opposed.

The male also had two outstanding warrants with the Hamilton Police Service that were also executed.
