Motor Vehicle Collision

Hamilton Police are investigating a serious injury motor vehicle collision in Hamilton.

On Sunday, February 17, 2019, at approximately 1:30 am, police, fire and paramedics responded to reports of a single motor vehicle collision on King Street East at Balmoral Avenue South, Hamilton.

A dark coloured Honda Sports Utility Vehicle, being operated by a 38-year-old Hamilton man, was travelling westbound on King Street East near Balmoral Avenue South when the vehicle struck the snowbank on the north side of the roadway. The vehicle then struck a light pole causing significant damage to the vehicle. In addition to the driver, a 35-year-old Hamilton female and a 30-year-old Hamilton man were also removed from the vehicle and transported to hospital with what were believed to be life-threatening injuries. The vehicle occupants remain in hospital to receive treatment but their statuses have been upgraded to stable notwithstanding the broken leg suffered by the 30-year-old man.

The Hamilton Police Service Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene of the collision and has carriage of the investigation which is still ongoing at this time. The driver was arrested for Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm and has been released from custody on a Promise to Appear.
