Police Investigated Single-Vehicle Collision on the Kenilworth Access

The Kenilworth Access was closed on Saturday for several hours as police investigated a single motor vehicle condition that sent a male to hospital.

On Saturday, August 19, 2019, shortly after 1: 30 p.m., a Toyota Highlander SUV was operating southbound on the Kenilworth Access approaching the roundabout when the driver lost control, crossed the median, drove through the garden, over the median and stopped on the curb of northbound Kenilworth. The driver, a 17-year-old Hamilton man was transported to the hospital with what was initially believed to be a serious head injury. The access was closed for two hours as police conducted an investigation and awaited results of the driver’s medical evaluation.

After receiving medical attention at the hospital, the driver’s medical condition was upgraded to non-life-threatening.

Through investigation, police have determined the cause of the collision was as a result of a medical issue.
