Thanksgiving Weekend Enforcement Initiative

Over the Thanksgiving Long-weekend from Friday, October 11 to Monday, October 14, 2019, the Hamilton Police Service is once again drawing the line for drivers and passengers.

The message this holiday long-weekend is; Buckle up or face a fine “Compliance is Free”. The “long Week-End Enforcement Program” will target drivers and occupants who are not buckled up.

Many of the injuries and deaths on our roads would not occur if everyone in a vehicle was adequately restrained by safety belts.

Vehicle occupants who are not buckled up can expect to pay a $240 fine and two demerit points. More importantly, by wearing a seatbelt unnecessary deaths and injuries can be prevented.

Hamilton Police will also be focusing on drivers who operate vehicles while impaired by alcohol and or drugs.

Hamilton Police would like to wish everyone a happy and safe Thanksgiving Long-Weekend.

Please be responsible and plan ahead.
