Impaired driver crashes into concrete pole on Kenilworth Access
On Friday December 4, 2015 just before 8:30pm, the Hamilton police responded to reports of a white coloured Mazda 3 that was observed slamming into a concrete pole in the eastbound lanes of the Kenilworth Access in the down bound lanes. The witnesses suspected that the driver was impaired after they attempted to render assistance to the woman driving.
Police arrived on scene to investigate. The woman was not injured. Upon speaking to the woman driving about the incident the officer could smell the odour of alcohol on the woman’s breath and an empty container of alcohol was located inside the vehicle. The woman was arrested for impaired driving and was transported to the police station for breath tests of which she failed.
The concrete pole fell across lanes on the roadway preventing vehicles from being able to continue down safely. The roadway was closed off for a short time to allow crews to respond and render the area safe and remove the pole. The vehicle was towed from the scene. The woman was later released and given a future court date to answer to the charges.
ACCUSED: 45 year old woman from Glanbrook
