News Release - Collision Reconstruction Unit investigate fatal collison near bus station
On Sunday January 24th, 2016, just shortly after 3:00pm a vehicle travelling northbound on James Street South being driven by a 35 year old Hamilton man was approaching Hunter Street in the City of Hamilton.
At the same time a coach bus being driven by a 64 year old St. Catharine's man, was returning passengers from a Casino trip, and travelling South on James Street South from Hunter Street.
The two vehicles collided in front of the entrance to the Hamilton GO Station. Unfortunately, the driver of the small vehicle succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene of the collision. The driver of the coach bus and approximately eight passengers were not injured.
Speed and alcohol have yet to be ruled out and are being considered as possible contributing factors involved in this collision investigation.
The Hamilton Police Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate and are asking any witnesses who have not spoken to police to contact Detective Constable Walter Niblock by phone at 905-546-4753.
Police have not been authorized to release the identity of the deceased at this time.
This is Hamilton's 2nd Fatality of 2016.
