Media Release - Personal Injury Accident

On Thursday, May 18th, 2017 at approx. 4:20 pm a 68 year old Hamilton Man was cycling northbound on Bay St. South approaching the intersection of Main Street East in the City of Hamilton. At the same time a HSR City Bus was proceeding eastbound on Main Street East, through the intersection with the right of way. The cyclist entered the intersection and struck the back half of the accordion style bus and was thrown from his bicycle. The cyclist suffered serious head trauma and was transported by EMS to hospital. Several witnesses attended to the cyclist including the HSR bus driver. The cyclist's identity is not being released at this time. The cyclist's family has been notified.

Speed or alcohol are not factors in this collision.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing the investigation, any witnesses who have not spoken to police are asked to contact Det/Cst.Niblock at 905-546-4753
