The Hamilton Police Collision Reconstruction Unit has laid Criminal Code charges in relation to the City's 13th fatality of 2017.
On Friday September 8th a 19 year old Hamilton man was arrested and charged with Dangerous Driving Causing Death. He has been released on a Promise To Appear (P.T.A). He is scheduled to be in Court later next month to answer to the charge.
The investigation is ongoing but speed has been identified as a contributing factor.

Fatal Collision at Upper James Street and Homestead Drive
On Tuesday August 29th 2017, shortly before midnight, two vehicles were involved in a motor vehicle collision that resulted in the death of one of the drivers.
This collision involved a 2002 Volkswagen Beetle driven by a male from Welland, who was travelling southbound on Upper James Street near Homestead Drive. At the same time, a 2008 Ford F150 Truck driven by a male from Hannon was travelling northbound on Upper James. The vehicles collided head on and the driver of the Beetle was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver was transported to hospital with serious but non life threatening injuries.
The identity of the drivers will not be released at this time as police are still in the process of locating next-of-kin. The investigation is ongoing however impairment has been ruled out.
This collision marks the 13th motor vehicle fatality for 2017 for the city of Hamilton.
