On Sunday, January 14, 2018 at 12:00hrs the 72 year old predestrian was removed from life support and passed away after providing his organs for donation.

The investigation is continuing, speed and alcohol are not factors in the collision.

Hamilton Police Investigate Serious Collision Involving Two Pedestrians

The Hamilton Police Service has responded to a collision near McMaster University involving two pedestrians and a motor vehicle. One pedestrian remains in hospital with life threatening injuries, as police continue to investigate.  

On Friday, January 12, 2018 shortly before 7:24 am, two male pedestrians 72 and 58 years of age, both from Hamilton, were crossing University Avenue just west of Forsyth Avenue South.  While inside the pedestrian crosswalk they were struck by a motor vehicle. The BMW sedan was being driven by a 60 year old Hamilton man.

The 58 year old suffered minor injuries and the 72 year old pedestrian suffered serious life threatening injuries requiring hospitalization. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police.

Speed and alcohol are not considered to be factors in this collision however police are considering the environmental conditions. 

The identity of the 72 year old pedestrian is not being released at this time until his family has been notified.
