A foot pursuit in the area of the John Sopkina Court house at 45 Main Street East, Hamilton results in two males being arrested and charged with possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose.

On March 9, 2018, shortly before 2:00 p.m., two males were observed by a construction site worker walking into a taped off construction zone at the John Sopinka Courthouse.   The two males were then observed approaching a driver while pulling out of a parking spot.   The construction worker approached the two males and an altercation ensued.   One of the suspects pulled out a hunting style knife and threatened the construction worker with it.  The two suspects were pursued on foot and arrested in the area of Walnut Street and Hunter Street, Hamilton.   During the search police located a BB style handgun on each of them along with the knife used in the assault as well as a smaller knife and small quantity of marijuana.

Austin Vanduzen: Male, 19-years, Hamilton resident

Austin Gowland:  Male, 18 years, Dundas resident

* Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

* Possession of Marijuana
