Arrests Made in East End Shooting

A 44-year-old male of no fixed address will appear in court today after being arrested in relation to an east end shooting. There were no injuries reported to police.

On Tuesday, June 16, 2020, shortly before 11:30 a.m., a couple was walking along Kenora Avenue when the male became involved in a verbal interaction with local residents of 245 Kenora Avenue residential complex. The situation escalated resulting in the male discharging a firearm in a resident’s direction, causing damage to the property. The couple then fled the scene. No one was physically injured.

Hamilton Police were contacted and immediately responded. The couple was quickly located and arrested. With the assistance of members of the community, officers were able to quickly determine the sequence of events and locate evidence involved in the commission of the offence. Amongst other things, the firearm and a quantity of narcotics were recovered.

Through continued investigation, police learned the male was in possession of fentanyl and money believed to be associated with illicit drug sales. The male was taken into police custody and is scheduled to have his matter brought before the courts later today.

Detectives determined the role of the female was not criminal and she was released unconditionally.

There is no connection between the resident and the arrested male.
