Burlington Couple Arrested for Drug Trafficking

A Burlington couple appeared in court on Sunday morning after a police investigation into a possible impaired driver. Impairment was ruled out by police; however, the couple was arrested and charged for drug trafficking.

On Saturday, June 1, 2019, shortly before 10:00 p.m., Hamilton Police received information about a possible impaired driver at a restaurant in the area of Upper James Street and Stonechurch Road. The female driver was currently in the establishment swaying back and forth after parking her vehicle incorrectly in the parking lot.

Upon police arrival, the vehicle was located in the lot with the female sitting behind the steering wheel and a male passenger sitting in the other front seat. A bottle of alcohol was observed in the front cabin area, the seal had been broken. The two occupants were removed from the vehicle for investigation purposes. At that time a container – known to conceal illicit drugs – was located in the front cabin area. The contents included a quantity of Methamphetamine. The occupants were informed of the joint charge of possession for the purpose of trafficking.
