Concerned Citizen’s Call to Police Results in Arrest of Armed Male

A 42-year-old Hamilton man will appear in court today for charges related to weapon offences, illicit drugs and failing to comply with court orders. Hamilton Police would like to thank the anonymous caller who contacted police. If you see something, say something.

On Tuesday, May 7, 2019, shortly after 3:00 p.m., Hamilton Police received information about a male with a weapon inside a store located in the area of Barton Street East and Chapple Street. Officers immediately responded and located a male matching the description as he was attempting to leave. He was detained by police and through investigation police determined he was in possession of a prohibited weapon and an undisclosed amount of methamphetamine. The weapon is described as a device capable of delivering an electronic current in the form of plastic knuckle guards. He was arrested without incident.

Further investigation revealed he was bound a weapons prohibition order and was also recently released on a court order for possession of Heroin and failing to comply with a probation order.

The male was taken into police custody and will appear in court today to answer to several criminal charges.
