Downtown Robbery Suspect Arrested

Hamilton Police have identified and arrested a male in relation to a string of street robberies in the downtown core. The investigation is ongoing as police continue to work to solve the remaining incidents.

Members of the Hamilton Police Service have continued to investigate a series of street robberies that occurred between Friday, August 21 and Monday, August 24, 2020. During the robberies, the victims were walking alone or waiting for public transit when the suspect approached on a bicycle and snatched their cellphone or attempted to grab their backpack.

After obtaining surveillance video, police identified and arrested a suspect. He was taken into custody without incident. His matter has been addressed at the John Sopinka Courthouse where he faced charges related to two robberies.

The investigation is ongoing as four of the street robberies remain unsolved.
