Drug Investigation Results in Large Seizure of Cocaine and Guns

Hamilton Police remain committed to addressing the illegal drug trade and gun violence in our community. A Hamilton man and Burlington woman appeared in court on Thursday, July 26, 2019, after police seized Cocaine, guns and Canadian currency.

In the summer of 2019, Police commenced an investigation into alleged drug trafficking by Vincent POOLE, a 46-year-old male from Hamilton. Police identified the accused regularly attended a residence in the area of Magnolia Drive and Mohawk Road West. During the course of the investigation, police observed activity consistent with drug trafficking and on the afternoon of Wednesday, July 24, 2019, police formed the grounds for his arrest. A traffic stop was conducted and Poole was arrested in possession of cocaine – believed to be approximately 10 kilograms – worth a street value of approximately $1,000,000 CAD.

Poole was taken into police custody and appeared in court on Thursday, July 25, 2019.

Police later applied for a Controlled and Drug Substance Act Search Warrant. The warrant was granted for the west mountain residence mentioned above and on Thursday, July 25, 2019, in the early morning hours, investigators executed the warrant. A 30-year-old Burlington woman, later identified as Kara Fticar, was arrested after being located inside the residence.

Fticar was taken into police custody and appeared in court on Thursday, July 25, 2019.

The following was seized from the residence:

  • Multiple lawfully owned firearms located throughout the residence. Several firearms (5) were kept in an unsafe manner and two (2) firearms were located loaded in close proximity to the resident’s bed.
  • A quantity of cocaine (believed to be approximately 1 kilogram), documentation for the male accused, a digital scale, proceeds of crime and ammunition located inside a personal safe.
  • Undisclosed quantity of oxycodone
  • Proceeds of Crime over $5000 (believed to be approximately $50,000 CAD)
