Two out of town males were arrested for trafficking cocaine and crystal meth after the drugs were discovered during a proactive traffic stop.

On Monday, November 4, 2019, shortly before 2:30 a.m., a Hamilton Police officer on proactive patrol was travelling eastbound on Main Street near Queen Street south when a grey Ford F150 pick-up truck was observed splitting lanes as it drove down the road. Through investigation, police learned a warrant for arrest existed for the owner of the vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was confirmed as the registered owner. He was arrested and removed from the vehicle. At that time, police noted a black bag in the front cabin area. Located inside the bag was a quantity of methamphetamine and cocaine. A further search of the immediate area revealed the presence of a large sum of money. Police determined through supporting evidence the driver and passenger were involved in drug trafficking. The items were seized for future court purposes.

The two males were both advised of the drug-related charges. They were taken into police custody and held for a bail hearing. The males attended the John Sopinka Courthouse on Monday, November 4, 2019, to answer to the charges.
