Drugs and Firearm Seized During Search Warrant Execution

A police investigation into a male held against his will resulted in the arrest of a Hamilton man and the seizure of drugs and a loaded firearm.

On Sunday, March 29, 2020, shortly 12:00 p.m., Hamilton Police received information regarding a male being held against his will at a residence in the area of Sherman Avenue North and Barton Street East. Police immediately responded and entered the residence for the safety of a potential victim. Once inside, police located an adult male with minor injuries. A male suspect was also located and arrested. He was found to be in possession of a substance believed to be Heroin.

Through continued investigation, police were granted a search warrant for the residence. The warrant was executed at 11:30 p.m. and police located and seized a loaded handgun and a quantity of Heroin and Fentanyl mix.

A 45-year-old Hamilton man will have his matter addressed at the John Sopinka Courthouse later today.
