Hamilton Police Service has determined the fire at 8 Greening Court in Dundas that killed two individuals was a homicide.

On July 9, 2018, at approximately 3:45 a.m., Hamilton Fire and Hamilton Police Service were dispatched to a house fire at 8 Greening Court in Dundas.

The victims, Carla and Alan Rutherford, both in their 60’s, were in the residence at the time. Alan was ultimately able to escape the home and knock on a neighbour’s door for help. Carla was unable to escape. Carla was rescued from the home by Hamilton Fire and pronounced dead on the way to the hospital. Alan was transported to hospital in critical condition.
