Police Investigate Early Morning Shooting Incident

An early morning shooting incident has sent a male in his early twenties to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police continue to investigate.

On Monday, May 11, 2020, shortly before 3:30 a.m., Hamilton Police responded to the area of King Street West and Lake Avenue Drive, for a report of a shooting incident. Upon arrival, officers secured the scene and located a male in his early 20’s with non-life threatening lower-body injuries. The male was transported to the hospital for medical treatment.

Through continued investigation, police have determined moments before being injured, the male was inside a residence near the above-stated intersection. After exiting the residence, he became involved in an altercation with unknown parties.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Branch at Division Two continue to investigate the incident and are asking area residents to check their security cameras for any suspicious activity and to contact police.

At this time, the victim is not cooperating and police believe this was a targeted incident.

Evidence located at the scene confirmed a shooting occurred.
