The operator of the aforementioned motorcycle was transported to a local area hospital by EMS, with serious, life threatening injuries.  The stretch of Queenston Road (east and west), between the north and south exits to the Redhill Valley Parkway will be closed for several hours.

The new reporting tool provides another way for residents and businesses to share information about observed drug activity, including suspected drug use, drug dealing or other specific drug-related incidents where an immediate police response is not required.

The initiative is a direct action coming out of the Downtown Safety Summit, where community partners, businesses and residents identified drug activity and its impact on the downtown as an ongoing concern. Since the Summit, Hamilton Police have continued to move forward with actions informed by those discussions, including the opening of the new police substation in Jackson Square.

Information submitted through the online reporting tool will be reviewed by the appropriate Divisional Crime Manager. Reports can help police identify recurring locations, patterns and emerging concerns, and may support operational planning or follow-up by officers.

An online report does not necessarily result in an officer being dispatched or attending immediately. If an incident is in progress, there is an immediate risk to public safety or emergency assistance is required, call 9-1-1. Hamilton Police continue to work with residents, businesses and community partners on actions identified through the Downtown Safety Summit to improve safety and address concerns affecting Hamilton’s downtown and communities across the city.

On Thursday, June 25, 2026, shortly after 4:30 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to a pedestrian-involved collision on King Street West near Dundurn Street North.

A Ford Edge SUV was exiting the Tim Hortons Plaza parking lot onto King Street West when it lost control and struck a 54-year-old man waiting in a nearby bus shelter. The man was transported to hospital with serious, life-altering injuries. The female driver was not injured.

On Monday September 1, 2026, the Hamilton Police Collision Reconstruction Unit concluded this investigation. As a result, a 36-year-old female from the City of Hamilton has been charged with Careless Driving Causing Bodily Harm, contrary to Section 130(3) of the Highway Traffic Act.

The first days of school bring increased pedestrian, bicycle and vehicle traffic to our roads. Everyone has a role to play in ensuring students can travel to and from school safely.

 School bus safety

School buses make frequent stops to pick up and drop off students. Drivers are reminded to:

• Stop when approaching a school bus with its red lights flashing and stop arm extended. Drivers travelling in both directions must stop unless separated from the bus by a median.
• Remain stopped until the bus has resumed motion, the lights have stopped flashing and the stop arm is no longer extended.
• Never pass a stopped school bus.
• Watch carefully for children who may be crossing the road or walking near a bus.
• Allow extra time when travelling through neighbourhoods during school drop-off and pick-up periods.
• Parents and caregivers should remind children to wait for the bus at a safe distance from the roadway and to follow the bus driver's instructions.

E-bike and e-scooter safety

Students using e-bikes and e-scooters to travel to school should understand the rules of the road and take appropriate safety precautions.

 Riders are reminded:

• You must be at least 16 years of age to operate an e-bike or e-scooter.
• Riders 16-17 years old must wear a helmet.
• Follow traffic signs, signals and applicable rules of the road.
• Use lights and reflective equipment when riding in low-light conditions.
• Be especially cautious at intersections, driveways and pedestrian crossings.
• Parents and caregivers are encouraged to discuss safe riding habits with young people before they begin travelling to school independently.

Driver awareness

Drivers are reminded that children do not always behave predictably around roadways. A child may suddenly enter the street, cross between parked vehicles or be distracted by friends.

 Drivers should:

• Slow down and remain alert in school zones and residential neighbourhoods.
• Follow posted speed limits and obey crossing guards.
• Stop and yield to pedestrians who are crossing the roadway.
• Avoid stopping or parking in locations that block crosswalks, sidewalks, bus stops or sightlines.
• Put phones and other distractions away while driving.
• Check carefully for pedestrians and cyclists before turning or opening a vehicle door.
• Expect increased congestion and leave earlier rather than rushing through school-area traffic.

 Hamilton Police will have an increased presence around schools as students return to class and will continue to monitor traffic and address unsafe driving behaviour.

Shortly before 3:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, a male arrived at a local hospital suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg. The injury is considered non-life-threatening.

Through the course of the investigation, police learned that the male had previously been at Venu Bar, located at 627 King Street East, Hamilton.

Detectives were able to determine that the individual who suffered the gunshot wound was the same individual alleged to be responsible for the shooting. He is believed to have shot himself.

As a result of the investigation to date, the male was arrested and charged with firearm offences related to the incident. He remains in custody pending a bail hearing.

The investigation began earlier this year after police received information regarding suspected drug trafficking from a residence on Kenilworth Avenue North.

On August 27, 2026, police executed a search warrant at the residence and arrested two people without incident.

During the search, police seized approximately 10 grams each of fentanyl and methamphetamine, hydromorphone pills and psilocybin mushrooms.

Police also recovered two Uzi-style firearms, including one that was 3D printed, a 3D-printed silencer and magazine containing .22 calibre ammunition, as well as brass knuckles containing a spring-loaded knife. Two digital scales, cellular devices and Canadian currency were also seized.

Brandon MITCHELL, 41, and Joelene KEOGH, 43, both of Hamilton, have been charged with:

• Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
• Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Psilocybin
• Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Hydromorphone
• Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl
• Possession of Proceeds of Crime Under $5,000
• Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm x2
• Possession of a Loaded Firearm
• Possession of a Prohibited Weapon/Device x3 

MITCHELL faces an additional two counts of Failing to Comply with Probation and two counts of Possession Contrary to an Order.

Both accused were held in custody pending a bail hearing.

On Sunday August 23, 2026 at approximately 6:36pm, officers responded to a shots fired call at an address on Mud Street East. Upon arrival, officers observed several individuals fleeing the area on foot. Police quickly secured the scene and arrested multiple individuals.

As the investigation progressed, officers located and seized five firearms from the property, including an SKS rifle and a shotgun. Several individuals were taken into custody and later released pending further investigation.

At this time, there is no information to suggest the gunfire was directed at any person or residence.

On August 23rd, 2026, at approximately 3:10 am, Hamilton Police responded to a shooting in the area of Queenston Road and Parkdale Avenue South.

It was learned that there was a private event in the area, when a physical altercation broke out between two parties. This resulted in a firearm being discharged. Although there were several people in the area, there is no information to suggest anyone was injured.

On Friday, August 21, 2026, at approximately 10:45 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to reports of shots fired in the area of Greendale Drive.

Upon arrival, officers located multiple shell casings and several bullet strikes to a residence. Several rounds penetrated the home while occupants were inside. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Investigators have obtained video surveillance showing two vehicles leaving the area at a high rate of speed shortly after the shooting.

Hamilton Police remain in the area as officers continue to canvass for witnesses and video surveillance and process the scene. Residents can expect a continued police presence while the investigation is underway.

The Shooting Response Team has assumed carriage of the investigation and is working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

This marks the 19th shooting in Hamilton in 2026.

On Saturday, August 22, 2026, at approximately 3:00 a.m., Hamilton Police and Hamilton Fire responded to reports of a fire at a residence on Princess Street.

The occupants were able to safely exit the home and no injuries were reported. Hamilton Fire extinguished the fire, which caused an estimated $3,000 to $5,000 in damage.

Investigators have determined the fire was deliberately set. Video surveillance shows a suspect approaching the residence shortly before the fire and fleeing the area westbound on Princess Street.

The suspect is described as wearing a light-coloured hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and dark shoes, and carrying a cross-body bag.

Hamilton Police are asking anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed suspicious activity to come forward. Residents and businesses in the area are also asked to review security, doorbell and dash-camera footage from the early morning hours of August 22.

A 91-year-old woman was walking westbound within the bike lane with the assistance of a mobility walker when she was struck from behind by a Hyundai driven by an 81-year-old woman.

The pedestrian was transported to Hamilton General Hospital in critical condition.

The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

Stone Church Road East was closed in both directions while officers conducted their investigation and has since reopened.

On Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at approximately 8:05 p.m., three suspects attended the store. Two entered and used hammers to smash display cases and steal jewellery, while a third remained outside the entrance as a lookout.

The suspects are described as follows:

• Yellow-and-black shoes
• Grey-and-black balaclava
• Black gloves
• Carrying a silver hammer

Suspect Three

• Male
• All-black tracksuit

The suspects are believed to have fled in a newer-model white Acura. Investigators are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying them.

Police are also seeking three witnesses who were outside the store and appeared to record the robbery on their phones. Investigators are urging these individuals to come forward and provide their video.

Police learned of the incident on Saturday, August 15, after receiving information that an individual had sustained a gunshot wound the previous day.

Investigators have confirmed that an adult male sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot injury. He received medical treatment and has since been released from hospital.

On June 13, 2026, between 9:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., an unknown individual attended 51 Adair Avenue South and placed stickers containing neo-Nazi and anti-Black imagery on the property.

The Hamilton Police Hate Crime Unit is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the individual shown in the images.

The incident occurred on July 16, 2026, at approximately 7:50 a.m., after the victim exited an HSR bus. Police allege that an unknown male approached the victim and sexually assaulted her.

Investigators are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the male pictured in the attached image. He is described as:

• Approximately 5’6” to 5’11” tall
• Thin to medium build
• Short, dark hair
• Wearing a black T-shirt and black pants
• Wearing black Nike Air Force 1-style shoes or similar footwear
• Wearing white over-the-ear headphones
• Carrying a beige backpack

Hamilton Police have charged 26-year-old Hamilton resident Kyle Dumont-McArthur with second-degree murder in connection with the death of 21-year-old Zenin Roussel.

On August 9, 2026, at 2:27 p.m., Hamilton Police received a 911 call from a taxi driver for a stabbing in the area of Main St W and Frid Street. Officers responded and located a male suffering from stab wounds. He was transported to hospital where he died as a result of those injuries.

On August 11, 2026, Kyle Dumont-McArthur was arrested without incident. He made his first court appearance this morning, and has been charged with second-degree murder.

Investigators have determined that Zenin and the suspects were at King Street Billiards before the incident. After the establishment closed, a verbal altercation occurred outside on King Street West. Investigators have not determined what led to the altercation.

Following the altercation, the suspect and victim left the premises separately. Approximately 10 minutes later, they encountered one another near Main Street West and Frid Street, where the victim was stabbed.

In addition to the suspect, four other people witnessed the incident. All four have been identified and interviewed by police.

Zenin was a beloved grandson, son, big brother, and a friend who touched many lives. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who knew him as they try to navigate the profound grief and heartbreak of this tragic loss.

Hamilton Police have identified the victim of the homicide that occurred on August 9 as 21-year-old Zenin Roussel of Hamilton.

The victim’s family has been notified and has asked for privacy as they grieve this tragic loss. Hamilton Police extend our sincere condolences to the family, friends and all those affected.

The Homicide Unit continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding Zenin’s death. Investigators have determined that Zenin and the suspects were at King Street Billiards before the incident. After the establishment closed, an altercation occurred outside on King Street West.

Hamilton Police were called around 2:30 a.m. after Zenin was found with stab wounds by a taxi driver on Main Street West near Frid Street. He was transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
