Flare Gun Discharged During Street Disturbance

Hamilton Police continue to investigate a disturbance where a flare gun was discharged. The parties involved fled prior to police arrival and there is no evidence to support injuries were incurred during the incident.

On Wednesday, May 16, 2019, shortly after 10:00 p.m., Hamilton Police officers attended the area of Market Street and Hess Street North for a street disturbance. Information provided to police included a group of males fighting during which time a ‘popping sound’ was heard. The males fled the scene prior to police arrival.

The area was secured as the investigation continued. Police recovered evidence to support a flare gun was discharged. At this time there is no information to support anyone was injured during the incident.

The investigation is the early stages and the Central Criminal Investigations Branch will be handling the matter.

Hamilton Police ask residents in the area to check their security cameras for suspicious activity.
