Four Arrested for Armed Robbery at Local Shoppers Drug Mart

Hamilton Police have conducted a six-month investigation involving an armed robbery at a local Shoppers Drug Mart. The Hamilton Police BEAR Unit has made four arrests and there is potential for more.

On January 15, 2019, shortly after 9:00 p.m., four males attended the Shoppers Drug Mart, located at 963 Fennell Avenue East in Hamilton, armed with a loaded firearm. A pharmacist was ordered to fill a garbage bag with narcotics. The suspects fled from the store and no physical injuries were sustained. Hours later, Police recovered the garbage bag of narcotics, the loaded firearm and two associated stolen motor vehicles.

After a six month investigation, four males were identified and have since been arrested and charged with over 55 Robbery and Firearms related offences.

Charged:

  • Erik Kalanyos (23-years, male) of Hamilton
  • Petr Krajnak (20-years, male) of Hamilton
  • 17-year-old male from Hamilton
  • 16-year-old male from Hamilton

The investigation is ongoing and Police expect to make additional arrests.
