Hamilton Couple Arrested after Fail to Remain Investigation

Hamilton Police arrested a couple in relation to a fail to remain collision that involved a stolen U-Haul truck. They will appear in court today.

On Monday, April 29, 2019, shortly before 8:30 p.m., police investigated a fail to remain collision involving a U-Haul truck and a parked car in the area of Robert Street and Victoria Avenue North. Once on scene, police received information that included the U-Haul truck reversing through an alleyway when it struck a parked car. The truck remained on scene for a brief moment and then drove away. This information was confirmed by security video.

Shortly before 10:00 p.m., while in the area of Wilson Street and Wellington Street North police observed a truck which matched the description of the suspect vehicle. An investigation into the vehicle revealed it had been previously reported stolen. A traffic stop was conducted and located inside the vehicle was a male driver and a female passenger. They were immediately arrested for possession of the stolen auto. Both parties were searched and the female was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia along with an undisclosed amount of methamphetamine. She was also bound by a court order.

Through investigation, police determined the truck was the vehicle involved in the fail to remain collision described earlier. Police also believe the male and female were in possession of the truck at the time. They were informed of the additional charge related to the collision.

The arrested parties were taken into police custody and are scheduled to appear in court today to answer to the criminal charges.
