Hamilton Man Arrested after Assault of Restaurant Employee

A 52-year-old Hamilton man has been arrested for assault and mischief after an altercation at a Tim Hortons restaurant drive-thru window. He is scheduled to appear in court on May 25, 2020.

On Friday, March 20, 2020, shortly before 3:30 p.m., a customer joined a drive-thru line at a Tim Hortons restaurant on the east mountain. He placed his order through the intercom system and approached the window. At the window, a discrepancy arose over the form of payment. The customer became verbally aggressive, however, payment was received and the order was filled. As the driver was leaving, he spat three times in the direction of the employee, striking her and the drive-thru window.

On Saturday, March 21, Hamilton Police identified the vehicle and the registered owner. Through continued investigation, police confirmed the registered owner was operating the vehicle and was the person involved in the incident.

On Sunday, March 22, 2020, the registered owner was arrested and taken into police custody. He was later released and is scheduled to appear in court on May 25, 2020.
