Hamilton Man Arrested for Arson
Hamilton Police responded to reports of male setting fire to the play structure at Gage Park. A 33-year-old Hamilton man was arrested and appeared in court on Sunday, July 21, 2019.
On Sunday, July 21, 2019, shortly after 6:00 a.m., a male attended the area of the kids play structure at Gage Park, located at 1000 Main Street East. He was then seen setting fire to the structure, causing a portion of it to melt. Information was passed on to the Hamilton Police and once on scene, police located the male and placed him under arrest. A search of his property revealed he was in possession of evidence to support his involvement in the arson.
An investigation into the male’s identify confirmed he was bound by a Probation Order and his arrest signified a violation to that order. He was advised of the additional charge.
Joel Babineau, 33-year-of-age was taken into police custody and later that day he appeared in court to answer to the charges.
The City of Hamilton Parks Department was contacted.
