Hamilton Police ACTION Team Checking Neighbourhoods at Night

Hamilton Police ACTION Team has been cycling through neighbourhoods in the evening hours to show their presence in areas where car break-ins have occurred.

On July 23, 2018, Hamilton Police ACTION team cycled the streets of Waterdown in the Riley Street and Chudleigh Street neighbourhood between 9:30 p.m. and 12:00 a.m. A total of 125 cars were checked. Police placed educational pamphlets inside six unlocked vehicles and an owner’s purse was returned after it was observed sitting in plain view inside her unlocked car. Unfortunately, this is not an uncommon occurrence.

On June 26, 2018, ACTION attended the Binbrook neighbourhoods to survey homeowner’s habits. Police visited 15 of the 100 homes and spoke to the owners about open garage doors, expensive garage items on display and garage door openers that are easily accessible for entry to the inside garage door.

Hamilton Police would like to bring awareness to the importance of taking an extra step to lock your car, remove items from plain view, park in well-lighted areas and close your garage door at night. Don’t be a victim.
