Hamilton Police Conclude Michael Sullivan Homicide

UnsolvedHomicide-SULLIVAN

Hamilton Police Service have closed the Michael Sullivan homicide after the main suspect in the case was recently found deceased.

On July 29, 2013, 51-year-old Michael Sullivan was killed after being struck by a truck. Michael was riding his bicycle at approximately 2:30 p.m., when he had an interaction with individuals on the street. Police believe the incident was a misunderstanding. Following the interaction, the people involved relayed false information to the driver of a black Ford F150 pick-up truck. The driver observed Michael leaving a nearby store and chased him through neighbouring streets. The chase ended behind a Barton Street business, where the truck collided with Michael’s bike. The collision caused him to fall off the bike, where he sustained a life-threatening head injury. The driver fled the scene without stopping to render assistance. Witnesses came to Michael’s aid and contacted 911.

On October 19, 2013, Michael succumbed to his injuries.

In March 2014, a 25-year-old man was arrested in relation to Michael Sullivan’s Homicide. At that time, there was not enough evidence in the case to secure a conviction. The suspect was released while the investigation continued. The suspect was recently found deceased. With no other persons of interest in the case, the investigation has closed.

Throughout the investigation, police kept family members apprised of developments and the challenges associated with securing a conviction in this case. Hamilton Police Service would like to thank the media for their support in covering the Michael Sullivan case, as well as the witnesses who came forward to provide his family with the answers they deserved.
