Hamilton Police Continue to Investigate the City’s 13th Traffic Fatality

Hamilton Police continue to investigate a fatal motor vehicle collision which occurred yesterday morning.

Anyone with information is urged to contact detectives.

On Thursday, October 28, 2021, shortly after 10:00 a.m., a collision occurred at the intersection of Barton Street East and Wellington Street North.

Through investigation, police determined a dump truck turned through the intersection and struck a mobility scooter.

The scooter operator, a 65-year-old Hamilton man was transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The dump truck operator, a 76-year-old Hamilton man, remained at the scene and is cooperating with police.

Due to the nature of the collision, the Hamilton Police Collision Reconstruction Unit has taken carriage of the investigation.

Detectives have ruled out speed and driver impairment as contributing factors.
