Hamilton Police Major Crime Unit Investigating City's 4th Homicide

On May 25, 2019, just shortly after 9:00 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to a disturbance at an apartment located at 15 Lamoreaux Street in the Hamilton.

Upon arrival, they located an adult male who was seriously injured. EMS, Fire and Police assisted in attempts to revive the male, however he was pronounced deceased on scene. The adult male appears to have been the victim of a stabbing. A 45-year-old male suspect was quickly arrested on scene by responding Hamilton Police Service patrol units for murder. This male will be formally charged with 2nd-degree murder later today via video link at the John Sopinka Courthouse in Hamilton.

Police are not releasing names as the name of the victim has not yet been confirmed and police are attempting to locate and notify next of kin. An autopsy will be performed later this morning at the Hamilton General Hospital to confirm the cause of death.

Canvassing will be occurring later today in the area of 15 Lamoreaux St. to locate any possible witnesses. The scene around 15 Lamoreaux St. will remain under Police guard for the majority of today while detectives investigate.
