Hamilton Police Request Publics Assistance in Overnight Shooting

Hamilton Police are investigating after reports of shots fired early Tuesday morning on the central mountain. Investigators are looking for a black Jeep Grand Cherokee and asking anyone with information to contact investigators.

On Tuesday, November 1, 2022, shortly after 1:00 a.m., Hamilton Police responded to possible shots fired the area of Towercrest Drive and Upper Wellington Street in Hamilton.

Police attended and upon arrival, officers immediately secured the area and searched for anyone involved; however the suspects had fled.

At this time investigators are looking for a black Jeep Grand Cherokee bearing Ontario marker CEEL 368. If you have information on this vehicle or locate the vehicle, do not approach and call 9-1-1.

Through continued investigation, police can confirm a shooting incident occurred.

There are no significant injuries reported to police at this time and checks at local hospitals produced negative results.

The investigation has been taken over by Division Three Criminal Investigation Branch.

Detectives are appealing to area residents to check their security cameras between the hours of 12:30 a.m. and 1:30 a.m. for any suspicious activity and to contact police. Alternatively if you were driving in the area and have dash camera footage that would be suitable for review please also contact investigators.

At this time investigators have information that this is a targeted shooting.
