On Monday, September 17, 2018, shortly before 10:30 a.m., a 21-year-old Hamilton man was arrested by Hamilton Police after officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on his motor vehicle in the area of Barton Street East and Ottawa Street North, Hamilton. The driver pulled his vehicle into a lot and fled the scene on foot, attempting to evade police. He was arrested a short time later, hiding in between parked vehicles. A search of the arrest area resulted in the discovery of a discarded, loaded 22 calibre handgun and stun gun (taser). Further investigation into the involved vehicle, revealed the existence of additional firearms and ammunition.

Members of the Vice and Drug Unit took carriage of the investigation which led to the execution of search warrants at a residence on Robinson Street and a commercial premise on Parkdale Avenue North. A female from Hamilton was arrested in relation to the Robinson Street Search Warrant.

Police have located and seized numerous firearms from each premise. The investigation is ongoing.

• Alisha SANDERSON, 21-year-old female from Hamilton.

CHARGES

Multiple firearm-related offences in excess of 30.

The accused parties appeared in court on Tuesday, September 18, 2018, to answer to the charges.
