Male Arrested after Cutting Through Live Traffic Lanes

Hamilton Police investigated a male pedestrian after he was seen cutting through live lanes of traffic. Police then learned there was a warrant for his arrest. A search of the male after the arrest revealed he was in possession of drugs and a prohibited weapon.

On Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at 10:00 a.m., a Hamilton Police officer on proactive patrol observed a male walking on the sidewalk on Wilson Street approaching Victoria Avenue. The male noted the presence of police and attempted to create distance between the two by cutting across Wilson Street, through live lanes of traffic. Police caught up to the male and began an investigation regarding his dangerous action.

Once the male identified himself police confirmed the existence of an outstanding arrest warrant for failure to appear in court. The male was arrested and during a subsequent search, police located a container of Bear Spray, Crystal Meth and drug paraphernalia.

The male was taken into custody and will appear at the John Sopinka Courthouse located at 45 Main Street East later today.
