Male Arrested in Ottawa for Stoney Creek Shooting
Police responded to a townhouse complex on the Stoney Creek Mountain to investigate a shooting incident. Two males dressed in construction type clothing were the primary suspects. One of the males was arrested in Ottawa and brought into custody with the help of the Ottawa Police Service.
On April 23, 2018, police responded to a shooting at 23 Echo Valley Drive, Stoney Creek. The two suspects fled the scene prior to police arrival, dressed in construction-style clothing. During the investigation, a DNA sample was located at the scene and sent for forensic analysis. Canadian Forensic Services confirmed there was a positive match with an existing profile of Salim Lawrence Bouvette, which enabled police to form grounds for an arrest.
On December 3, 2018, Bouvette was arrested during the execution of a drug warrant in the City of Ottawa. He was escorted back to Hamilton and is now facing several firearm-related charges.
One suspect remains outstanding and police continue to investigate.
