Male Treated for Injuries from Altercation

Hamilton Police continue to investigate a stabbing incident that occurred in the east end. One male received medical treatment on scene. The parties involved are known to each other.

On Monday, March 11, 2019, shortly before 9:30 p.m., Hamilton Police attended a residence in the area of Melvin Avenue and Bernard Street in relation to a stabbing incident. Once on scene, police located a 46-year-old male victim with injuries to an arm and leg. He received medical attention on scene but declined further treatment at the hospital.

Through investigation, police determined an altercation took place between the victim and another male, who are known to each other. It is believed the males were in a dispute when the injuries occurred. It is not known what caused the injuries. The other male involved in the incident fled prior to police arrival; however, he has been identified. There is no evidence to support the other party involved has sustained an injury as a result of the incident.

Police believe this was a targeted incident and will be in the area as the investigation continues.
