Man Arrested with Flare Gun in Tim Hortons

A 55-year-old Hamilton man appeared in court yesterday in relation to a disturbance at a downtown Tim Horton’s restaurant. The investigation remains ongoing as police continue to review evidence.

On Saturday, June 8, 2019, shortly after 10:30 p.m., Hamilton Police officers attended the Tim Horton's restaurant located at 80 John Street South for a weapons call.

When police arrived they located the suspect sitting at a table and for safety reasons, he was immediately arrested. He was found to be in possession of a flare gun that appeared to be fully operational. The gun was not loaded.

Through investigation, police learned the suspect had been pointing the firearm at two customers while making threats to harm them and others in the establishment.

The suspect was taken into police custody and appeared in court on Sunday, June 9, 2019.

The investigation remains ongoing as police review additional evidence.
