Michael Sullivan Homicide 5th Year Anniversary

UnsolvedHomicide-SULLIVAN

On Sunday 29, July 2018, it will be 5 years since Michael Sullivan (age 51) of Hamilton attended the area of Barton Street East and Lottridge Street in the City of Hamilton on his bicycle to do some shopping. While in the vicinity, at approximately 2.30 p.m., he had a brief interaction with some individuals on the street then continued about his business. This interaction led to some misinformation being passed to the driver of a black, Ford F150 pick-up truck. The driver of this vehicle then actively pursued Michael around the area streets and approximately 2:55 p.m., he chased Michael into the rear lot of 927 Barton Street East where the Ford pick-up truck collided with Michael's bike causing him to be dislodged. The impact resulted in Michael sustaining a life-threatening head injury.

The driver of the pick-up truck fled the scene without stopping to render assistance and was last seen travelling eastbound on Barton Street. Witnesses called 9-1-1 and Michael was transported to the Hamilton General Hospital where he was placed on life support but never regained consciousness. Michael's family made the tough decision to discontinue life support and on Saturday, October 19, 2013, Michael succumbed to his injuries.

The Hamilton Police Service's Division 20 Detectives investigated the case initially and it was later turned over to the Hamilton Police Major Crime Unit. Investigators are keen to conclude this case for the Sullivan family and are confident that a small group of individuals have information that will lead to an arrest. Michael’s family and police are appealing to those persons to contact them. The Hamilton Police also want to remind the public of the $50,000.00 reward which is in effect in relation to this case.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Michael McNaughton at 905-546-4123 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
