On August 25, 2019, shortly before 1:45 p.m. a male parked in a Tim Hortons parking lot at the corner of Sanford Avenue North and Cannon Street East grabbed the attention of a passing officer as he entered into an unplated black 2007 Infinity G35.
The police activated their cruiser lights in an attempt to pull over the vehicle as it travelled eastbound on Harvey Street. The vehicle accelerated at a high rate of speed, disregarding signs in order to escape. Police did not pursue due to public safety concerns.
A few minutes later the vehicle was located parked on the roadway with the driver close by. When police recognized him as the driver he fled again on foot through backyards. He was quickly located and placed under arrest in the area of Cannon Street East and Chestnut Avenue.
The male was brought into Central Custody with his bail opposed.
