Police Investigate Early Morning Shooting Incident

Hamilton Police Central Detectives Office continues to investigate an early morning report of shots fired. No persons were injured; however, a vehicle did receive damage as a result of the incident, it has been seized for examination. Witnesses are asked to contact police with information.

On Sunday, May 5, 2019, shortly after 3:30 a.m., Hamilton Police responded to a call for gunshots fired in the area of Main Street West and Margaret Street. Once on scene police spoke with the complainant who operates a transportation service advised he had picked up three patrons in the area of Main Street West and Paradise Road South. He believed they were involved in an incident prior to his arrival that led to two males approaching his vehicle, having a conversation with one of his patrons and then walking away. A short time later he heard the sounds of gunfire and immediately drove off to contact police. The patrons hastily vacated the vehicle.

The complainant’s vehicle has been seized for examination as it was damaged by projectiles. They are being examined to confirm their exact origin.

No persons were injured during the incident. Police believe this was a targeted incident.

Hamilton Police Central Detectives Office continues to investigate to identify the vehicle occupants and any suspect information.

Residents and business owners are asked to check their security cameras for suspicious activity.

This marks the 21st shooting incident in Hamilton for the year.
