Police Investigate Stoney Creek Shooting Incident

An 18-year-old Stoney Creek man was treated for an injury believed to have been caused by a firearm last night after an incident on the Stoney Creek Mountain. Detectives are asking residents in that area to check their security cameras for suspicious activity and to contact police.

On Thursday, April 16, 2020, shortly before 9:30 p.m., Hamilton Police received reports of a shooting in the area of Candlewood Drive and Foxmeadow Drive. Information provided to police included people hearing the sound of gunshots followed by a brief disturbance. A short time later police were notified that a male had attended a local hospital with an injury believed to have been caused by a firearm.

Detectives from the Division 20 Criminal Investigations Branch continue to investigate the incident. With the information police have at this time, the incident is considered to be a targeted event.

The victim, an 18-year-old Stoney Creek male was treated at the hospital for a non-life-threatening injury.

This is the city's 14th shooting incident in 2020.

Police are looking for anyone that may have witnessed the incident and urge residents in the area of Candlewood Drive and Foxmeadow Drive to review footage from their home security cameras for any suspicious activity.
