Police Round up Thieves and Wanted Parties After B&E

Hamilton Police officers arrest two males for an overnight break and enter incident to a downtown apartment building. During the investigation, two wanted parties were identified and arrested as well. The males appeared in court on Tuesday afternoon to answer to their criminal charges.

On Tuesday, February 5, 2019, shortly before 3:00 a.m., Hamilton Police received information of a break and enter in progress at 66 Bay Street South. Two males had gained unlawful entry through the front doors and were progressing towards the underground parking lot. Recently this address had seen several incidents of thefts which police were addressing. Police quickly responded but the males fled the scene prior to police arrival. Within moments two males were located a short distance away. One male was immediately recognized as a wanted party with the Hamilton Police Service. He was placed under arrest while the second male was detained for investigative purposes. With the information presented to police at the time, there was insufficient evidence to arrest the second male and he was released. The first male was taken into police custody for a bail hearing based on the break and enter incident and outstanding warrants with Hamilton and Halton Police Services.

Police continued to investigate the break and enter incident and obtained the grounds to arrest the second male. Shortly after 8:00 a.m., police located the second male in the area of Main Street West and Hess Street. He was arrested without incident and held for a bail hearing based on the break and enter incident and a court release with a neighbouring police service.

At the same time, police noted the presence of two other males wanted by the Hamilton Police Service. A 17-year-old Hamilton male was arrested on the strength of the outstanding warrants for failing to attend court in relation to possession of crystal meth. A 29-year-old Hamilton man was arrested for outstanding offences including assault, utter threats and fail to comply with probation.

All the parties arrested appeared in court on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, to answer to the criminal charges.
