Police Seek Assistance with East Hamilton Shooting Investigation

Hamilton Police are asking residents in the area of Julian Avenue and Britannia Avenue to check their surveillance cameras for suspicious activity after confirming a shooting incident occurred late Thursday night. Police have not received any reports of injuries. 

On Thursday, March 19, 2020, shortly after 11:30 p.m., Hamilton Police received reports of a possible shooting in the area of Julian Avenue and Britannia Avenue, Hamilton. Residents in the area contacted police after hearing what they believed sounded like three gunshots. Officers immediately responded and checked the area but did not locate any evidence to support a shooting occurred. 

On Friday, March 20, 2020, police returned to the area after evidence was located. A single bullet was found lodged in the front door a residence.

Hamilton Police detectives have continued to investigate and with the assistance of witnesses, a dark coloured four door sedan has been identified as being involved. The vehicle was last seen leaving the area travelling westbound on Britannia Avenue. Additionally, police have also obtained a suspect description.

  • Light coloured shoes

At this time, police believe this was a targeted shooting. No injuries have been reported. 

Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Branch are asking area residents to check their surveillance cameras for any suspicious activity and to contact police.
