Red Hill Valley Parkway Shut Down for Rollover Investigation

An overnight truck rollover resulted in the closure of the Red Hill Valley Expressway. The truck left the roadway striking a King Street overpass abutment releasing several litres of liquid asphalt. The two occupants of the truck were transported to hospital with minor injuries. The roadway remains closed for several hours. Police are investigating to determine the cause of the collision.

On Thursday, November 22, 2018, shortly after 4:30 a.m., Hamilton Police received information a transport truck filled with liquid asphalt was involved in a single vehicle rollover. The truck was travelling northbound on the Red Hill Valley Parkway when it left the roadway, hitting a King Street overpass abutment. Liquid asphalt was released onto both directions of the RHVP along with the grassy median under the overpass. The RHVP was closed in both directions from Barton Street to Upper Stonechurch Road. The roadway will remain closed as clean-up crews work in the area. The Ministry of Environment, Hamilton Fire and City of Hamilton Road Crews are involved in the clean-up.

The two occupants in the truck were transported to hospital with minor injuries.

Hamilton Police continue to investigate this collision to determine the cause of the collision. At this time no criminal or Highway Traffic Act charges have been laid.
