Rental Vehicle Seized after Being Used for Stunt Driving

 

Hamilton Police have arrested a Crystal Beach man for stunt driving while operating a rental vehicle. The driver has had his license suspended for seven days and the vehicle has been impounded for the same amount of time.

Hamilton Police remind drivers to obey the speed limit for the safety of everyone.

On Monday, August 13, 2018, shortly before midnight, a Hamilton Police officer in the area of Highland Road East and Tenth Road East, Stoney Creek. At the time, a black sedan was observed travelling eastbound on Highland Road at a high rate of speed. An investigation revealed the vehicle was operating at 131km/hr in a posted 80km/hr zone.

The driver, a 39-year-old man from the Crystal Beach area was arrested and is scheduled to appear in court on September 11, 2018, to answer to the following charges:

  • Speeding - 131 km/hr in a 80 km/hr zone
  • Drive motor vehicle while performing a stunt

His driver’s license has been suspended for seven days and the vehicle, a 2018 Nissan Maxima, which was under a rental contract at the time, has been impounded for seven days as well.
