Hamilton Police are investigating a report of sewing needles found inside Halloween chocolate bars and are urging parents and caregivers to check their children’s candy.

On November 2, 2026, officers responded to a residence near Upper Ottawa Street and Mohawk Road after a parent reported finding needles in candy their children had collected while trick-or-treating.

The affected chocolate bars included Aero, KitKat and Caramilk.

Police believe the candy may have been collected along Limeridge Road, between Upper Ottawa Street and Upper Kenilworth Avenue, on either side of the street.

Parents and caregivers are urged to inspect all Halloween candy before children eat it. If you find anything suspicious, do not consume or discard it. Keep the candy and packaging and contact police.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Division 30 Staff Sergeant at 905-546-3886.

On November 1, 2026, at approximately 1:45 p.m., police were called to a restaurant located at 1223 Barton Street East following reports of an assault involving two male youths and a 59-year-old man. 

The incident began when the two youths approached young Air Cadets from a local squadron who were selling Remembrance Day poppies in front of the restaurant and blew a loud air horn directly into their ears. A 59-year-old adult supervising the cadets followed the youth suspects into the restaurant to confront them about their actions. 

A struggle ensued and an adult female who was not initially involved in the altercation jumped in to assist the youths. She proceeded to assault the victim, causing him to fall to the ground. One of the male youths then struck the victim several times before leaving the restaurant. The female also left the scene before police arrived.

Upon arrival, officers located the adult male victim inside the restaurant suffering from serious injuries. Hamilton Paramedic Services attended and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment. His injuries are considered life-altering. 

A short time later, officers located the two youths at a nearby retail store after receiving reports of a new, unrelated disturbance. A 12-year-old male youth was arrested and charged with Assault Level One as well as Aggravated Assault.

This morning, officers located the female and placed her under arrest. She has also been charged with Aggravated Assault.

Two weeks ago, the Divisional HEAT Unit and Major Drugs and Gangs Unit executed a search warrant at 45 Wellington Street North. The dispensary reopened the following day, and the building owner was notified.

Yesterday, officers executed another search warrant at that location, shut down the operation and barred entry to the premises, including the building owner.

A 27-year-old Hamilton man was charged with:

• Selling Cannabis other than as an Authorized Retailer
• Possession of Illicit Cannabis
• Possession of Cannabis for the Purpose of Selling
• Proceeds of Crime

With assistance from other services including The Ministry of Labour Immigration, City of Hamilton Municiple By-Law, and OPP Contraband Tobacco Enforcement Team, a second warrant was also executed at another illegal cannabis dispensary located at 1142 Barton Street East. As a result of the investigation, a 24-year-old male was charged with the following offences:

• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000.00
• Trafficking in Controlled Tobacco
• Possession of Illicit Cannabis
• Possession of Cannabis for the Purpose of Selling
• Selling Cannabis without Authorization

“Our message to illegal cannabis operators is clear: we are coming for you. Reopening after police enforcement will bring further action,” said Chief Frank Bergen. “Building owners who knowingly allow these illegal businesses to operate should also expect scrutiny and enforcement where warranted. You cannot simply collect the rent and ignore what is happening on your property.”

Approximately 30 illegal cannabis dispensaries are operating in Hamilton. Police continue to hear concerns from residents and licensed cannabis businesses that follow the rules.

Search warrants and charges alone have not stopped some operators from reopening almost immediately. Hamilton Police are taking further steps to disrupt repeat illegal activity and prevent these locations from continuing to operate.

Addressing fentanyl trafficking remains a priority. Illegal cannabis establishments often have ties to broader organized crime networks. Enforcement against illegal cannabis dispensaries is part of the Service’s broader work to address community concerns and illegal drug activity.

On October 29, 2026, at approximately 8:00p.m., Hamilton Police received a report of a stabbing near 70 James Street. Responding officers located a 37-year-old male victim suffering from multiple stab wounds. The officers provided first aid, and the victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Moments later, a second report of a stabbing was made to Police. This incident occurred near 94 York Boulevard and left 39-year-old male with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. The victim was transported to a hospital and officers worked to gather suspect information.

While Police managed both incidents, officers who were en-route to the scenes located a male matching the suspect description. The individual was walking westbound on York Boulevard with a knife in hand. Officers conducted a high-risk takedown arrest and took the suspect into custody without further issue.

The accused has been charged with the following offences and held for bail:

• Aggrivated Assault x2
• Fail to Comply with Probation x 3
• Fail to Comply with Release Order

Police believe these attacks were unprovoked and completely random. Anyone with information is asked to contact Division 10 Staff Sergeant at 905-546-4725

On Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at approximately 2:33 p.m., police received reports of a large group of youths fighting in the parking lot near Tim Hortons at 505 Rymal Road East. Witnesses reported seeing a knife, a baseball bat and what appeared to be a firearm.

Officers arrived within two minutes - just as the group began to disperse. Police pursued a youth who ran toward a residential complex at 450 Rymal Road East.

Additional patrol officers and the Canine Unit responded to assist with the search. At approximately 3:12 p.m., officers located and arrested a 17-year-old youth as he was leaving the residential area. He was charged with one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and held for a bail hearing.  

Three other youths were arrested during the initial response and subsequently released without charges pending further investigation.

Officers recovered a CO2 airsoft gun from the west parking lot of the plaza and a baseball bat from the east parking lot. No knife or additional weapons were located.

No injuries were reported.

In July 2026, Hamilton Police received complaints involving unauthorized purchases on the credit and debit card accounts of residents at Carrington Place in Ancaster.

An investigation by the Hamilton Police Financial Crimes Unit identified a personal support worker employed at the retirement home as the suspect. Police allege the employee had access to residents' credit and debit cards while working at the facility.

On Tuesday, October 13, 2026, investigators arrested a 24-year-old Hamilton woman. A subsequent search warrant executed at her residence resulted in the recovery of evidence related to the fraudulent purchases.

Bella Azalia Carranza Mejia, 24, of Hamilton, has been charged with:

• Fraud Under $5,000 (three counts)
• Use Stolen Credit Card (three counts)
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime (three counts)

Carranza Mejia was released on an undertaking with a future court date.

Hamilton Police are not seeking additional victims or witnesses in relation to this investigation.

Protecting Yourself Against Financial Fraud

Hamilton Police remind residents and their families of the importance of regularly monitoring financial accounts to identify suspicious activity.

The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre recommends reviewing bank and credit card statements for unauthorized transactions, watching for unfamiliar charges and immediately contacting your financial institution if fraudulent activity is suspected.

On Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at approximately 4:30 a.m., police responded to reports of shots fired in the area of Atessa Drive and Rymal Road East.

Responding officers located a residence and vehicle that had been struck by gunfire. No injuries have been reported.

Police continue to hold the scene as detectives from the Hamilton Police Shooting Response Team and Division 3 Criminal Investigations Branch investigate.

Officers are expected to remain in the area for much of the morning as investigators collect evidence and canvass for witnesses and video surveillance.

The investigation remains ongoing, and no suspect information is available for release at this time.

In March 2026, Hamilton Police received a referral from the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services following an investigation into suspected fraudulent benefit claims.

The Ministry's investigation determined that an individual had provided inaccurate information over several years, resulting in more than $133,000 in overpayments.

Following a review of the Ministry's findings, Hamilton Police determined there were grounds to lay criminal charges.

On Thursday, October 22, 2026, police arrested and charged Steven Andrew Christou, 48, of Hamilton, with:

• Fraud Over $5,000

Christou was released on an undertaking with a future court date.

Hamilton Police continue to work with government and community partners to investigate financial crimes and hold those responsible accountable.

On Sunday, October 25, 2026, shortly before 10:30 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to reports of a vehicle and residential fire in the area of East 16th Street, between Inverness Avenue East and Mountville Avenue.

Multiple calls were received reporting vehicles and a residence on fire. Hamilton Police and Hamilton Fire Department responded to the scene.

A 30-year-old Hamilton man was subsequently located and arrested. He has been charged with arson-related offences.

Hamilton Police are working with the Office of the Fire Marshal to determine the origin, cause and circumstances surrounding the fire. The investigation remains ongoing.

East 16th Street, between Inverness Avenue East and Mountville Avenue, is expected to remain closed throughout Monday, October 26, 2026, as investigators examine the scene. Motorists and residents are asked to avoid the area and follow any posted detours.

On Sunday, August 16, 2026, at approximately 10:10 a.m., a male entered the Shoppers Drug Mart at Eastgate Square and began stealing medication from store shelves.

When confronted by employees, the suspect produced a knife and threatened staff before fleeing the store with stolen merchandise. He was last seen leaving the mall's east parking lot on foot.

Investigators have released images of the suspect and are asking anyone who recognizes him or has information about the incident to come forward.

 On October 15, 2026, shorty before 8 p.m., the Hamilton Police responded to assist Hamilton Fire, for reports of smoke coming from a building on campus.  The fire was extinguished with moderate damage to the property.  There were no reported injuries as a result of the blaze. 

The matter is currently under investigation by the Break Enter Auto and Robbery Team Arson Investigator.

On Thursday, October 15, 2026, shortly before 3:00 a.m., police responded to a home invasion in the area of East 8th Street in Hamilton.

Three suspects forced their way into a residence, with one armed with a handgun. The suspects were confronted by the homeowner before fleeing the area on foot. No injuries were reported.

Police are seeking three suspects described as follows:

• Grey sweater and black pants
• Black shoes
• Face covering
• Black and yellow gloves

Suspect Two:

• Black male
• Black hoodie and green camouflage pants
• Black shoes
• Grey face covering
• Black backpack
• Yellow and black gloves
• Armed with a handgun

Suspect Three:

• Male
• Black hoodie and green pants
• Black shoes
• Carrying a blue bag

Investigators are appealing to anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area around the time of the incident to come forward. Residents are also encouraged to review their home security and surveillance footage for anything that may assist the investigation.

On Tuesday, August 18, 2026, shortly after 8:30 p.m., police responded to a collision on Stone Church Road East involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

A 91-year-old woman was walking westbound with the assistance of a mobility walker when she was struck from behind by a vehicle. She was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries and later succumbed to her injuries.

Following an investigation by the Hamilton Police Collision Reconstruction Unit, the 81-year-old driver was charged on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, with Careless Driving Causing Death.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court in December 2026.

On Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to a fail-to-remain collision near London Street North and Roxborough Avenue.

A stolen SUV travelling at a high rate of speed struck a parked vehicle before three occupants fled the scene on foot.

Responding officers searched the surrounding area and located the three youths near Ottawa Street North. Following a brief foot pursuit, all three were arrested.

During searches following the arrests, officers recovered a BB gun, a can of bear spray and keys belonging to the stolen vehicle.

As a result of the investigation, three male youths from Hamilton have been arrested and charged with the following offences:

14-year-old male from Hamilton

• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
• Carrying a Concealed Weapon

14-year-old male from Hamilton

• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
• Carrying a Concealed Weapon
• Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Weapon

15-year-old male from Hamilton

• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

All three youths were released on undertakings.

On Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at approximately 10:53 a.m., Hamilton Police responded to St. Charles Learning Centre on East 5th Street after receiving reports that a student had been shot with a BB gun.

A 14-year-old male student sustained injuries to his face and was transported to hospital for treatment.

The suspect fled the area prior to police arrival. As a precaution, St. Charles Learning Centre was placed in lockdown, while nearby Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Elementary School was placed in a hold and secure. Both safety measures were subsequently lifted.

As a result of the investigation, a 15-year-old male from Hamilton has been arrested and charged with:

• Assault Causing Bodily Harm
• Assault with a Weapon
• Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose

The BB gun involved in the incident has not been recovered, and the investigation remains ongoing.

On Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at approximately 1:30 p.m., police responded to a residence after a worker conducting tree removal nearby observed several puppies in distress inside an outdoor cage.

Responding officers located eight puppies that appeared severely undernourished, with several unresponsive and one appearing deceased.

Officers immediately provided water to the surviving puppies and contacted Animal Control and Provincial Animal Welfare Services (PAWS).

Seven puppies were transported by police to an emergency veterinary clinic, where one was confirmed deceased. The remaining six received veterinary care.

The homeowner was contacted and has been cooperative with police.

Provincial Animal Welfare Services (PAWS) has taken carriage of the investigation.

Any further updates regarding the investigation will be provided by PAWS.

On Saturday, October 10, 2026, at approximately 8:20 p.m., a male suspect entered a pizza restaurant on Fennell Avenue East armed with what appeared to be a handgun and demanded cash from the register.

Approximately 30 minutes later, a male suspect entered a cannabis dispensary, also on Fennell Avenue East, and demanded cash and merchandise while armed with what appeared to be a handgun.

An undisclosed amount of cash and merchandise was stolen during the robberies. No physical injuries were reported.

The suspect is described as:

• White male
• Wearing black clothing
• Wearing a blue medical mask
• Armed with what appeared to be a black handgun

Hamilton Police BEAR Unit investigators believe the same suspect is responsible for both robberies.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area or has information that could assist with the investigation to come forward.

The shooting occurred at approximately 7:30 am on October 11, 2026 in the area of Green Road and North Service Road in Stoney Creek. Investigators believe that this was a targeted shooting.

At this time, there is limited information to provide, however investigators believe that the shooter fled in a motor vehicle westbound on North Service Road towards the QEW.

We are asking any residents with dash camera or surveillance cameras in the area of Green Road and North Service Road to check for any suspicious activity or vehicles between the hours of 7:00 am and 7:45 am.

The vehicle used is believed to be a black four door Hyundai Sonata. There is no suspect description to provide at this time.

The 47-year-old officer, an 18-year member of the Hamilton Police Service, has been charged with Breach of Recognizance.

The officer was previously charged in August 2025 in connection with a historical domestic incident.

Bail was opposed, and the officer was subsequently released on conditions.

As this matter is now before the courts, Hamilton Police will not be providing additional comment.

On October 6, 2026, Hamilton Police received a report of an incident that occurred the previous day, October 5, at approximately 4:00 p.m., outside St. Joachim Catholic Elementary School in Ancaster.

Police learned that an unknown male was in the school parking lot when he allegedly committed an indecent act. The male was confronted by a parent and left the area without further incident.

The male is described as:

• Approximately mid-50s
• Light brown skin
• Black and grey hair in a buzz cut
• Wearing a black sweater with a red and grey pattern on the shoulders and front, blue jeans and large headphones

The male was associated with a grey Acura RDX.

Investigators are asking anyone who was in the area of Concerto Court and Amberly Boulevard between approximately 3:45 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. on October 5 to check dash-camera, residential or other surveillance footage. Police are particularly interested in any footage showing a grey Acura RDX or an individual matching the suspect description.

On October 6, 2026, shortly after 7:00 p.m., police responded to the Hamilton-Brantford Rail Trail behind University Plaza after receiving reports that two youths were threatening members of a running group.

During the incident, a coach with the running group approached and attempted to intervene. The two youths turned their attention toward him, allegedly threatening him and repeatedly making comments about his race and perceived ethnicity.

The male youth then allegedly grabbed the victim and punched him several times in the head. The victim sustained minor injuries.

When police arrived, the two youths fled on foot. Officers located them a short distance away on the rail trail and placed them under arrest.

As a result of the investigation, a 15-year-old Hamilton male and a 17-year-old Hamilton female have each been charged with:

• Uttering Threats to Cause Bodily Harm or Death
• Assault

Both youths were released on Undertakings into the care of their respective parents.

Under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the identities of the accused cannot be released.

The incident has been referred to the Hamilton Police Hate Crime Unit for review.

RIBD provides a better understanding of how different communities experience policing. But data alone cannot tell the whole story. It is most meaningful when considered alongside the perspectives, experiences and knowledge of the communities it represents.

“We encourage people from across Hamilton to apply. Experiences and perspectives can help shape recommendations that strengthen transparency, accountability and the way we serve our communities. Bringing community voices into this work helps give those findings context and informs meaningful improvements to policing in Hamilton,” said Chief Frank Bergen.

The Community Advisory Panel brings those voices directly into this work.

As a CAP member, individuals will have an opportunity to:

• Provide community context to RIBD data and findings.
• Ask questions and identify issues that deserve closer attention.
• Share perspectives and lived experiences that may not be visible in the numbers.
• Contribute to conversations about how RIBD is implemented.
• Help develop recommendations that strengthen transparency, accountability and policing in Hamilton.
• Support ongoing dialogue between Hamilton Police Service and the communities it serves.

The first Community Advisory Panel played an important role in developing and implementing the RIBD Strategy, including providing 12 recommendations to Hamilton Police Service. CAP 2.0 will build on this work, bringing community perspectives into the next phase of the strategy.

Individuals do not need to be a data expert or have a background in policing. Hamilton Police are looking for community members who bring different experiences, perspectives, knowledge and connections to Hamilton’s communities.

A 2017 Ford Explorer was travelling southbound on Pritchard Road when a Volkswagen Atlas travelling northbound crossed over the centre line and struck the Ford Explorer.

The driver of the Volkswagen, a 78-years-old male from Hamilton, was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. 

The driver of the Ford, a 75-year-old male from Hamilton, along with the passenger, a 66-year-old female, were taken to local hospital with minor injuries.  

At this time, the police are actively seeking any potential witnesses to this incident and urge anyone with information to come forward.  Investigators are also requesting any motorists in the area at the time of the collision to check their dash cameras and any residences or businesses in the area with surveillance cameras to review their camera footage.

Tripp met the victim, a student who required supports, while fraudulently working as an Educational Assistant within the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board.

In September of 2025, the victim’s family was led to believe that Tripp was a qualified respite worker and she began meeting with the victim outside of her role with the school. It was during these interactions that the offences occurred.

Tripp has been charged with Sexual Assault, Assault, Voyeurism and Utter Threat to Cause Death in relation to this investigation. 

It is also alleged by police that Tripp altered Hamilton Police record check documents in order to gain employment and volunteer positions in which she had contact with both children and vulnerable individuals. She has been charged with Use Forged Documents and Fail to Comply Probation.

On Monday, September 28, 2026, at approximately 8:38 a.m., Hamilton Police responded to a shopping plaza at 86 Mall Road after receiving reports that a woman had been attacked and her vehicle stolen.

The victim had just arrived at the plaza and was removing items from her vehicle when she was approached by two males.

One of the males grabbed the victim’s purse and demanded her vehicle keys. During the struggle, the victim was placed in a headlock and thrown to the ground before the suspects took her purse and fled in her vehicle.

The victim sustained minor injuries and was transported to hospital.

The stolen vehicle was equipped with GPS tracking, allowing police to quickly track its movements through the city.

Approximately 15 minutes after the carjacking, officers located the vehicle at a gas station on King Street. As officers moved in, the driver fled in the stolen vehicle, striking a marked police cruiser in the process. The passenger attempted to flee on foot but was arrested by officers following a short foot pursuit.

Police continued tracking the stolen vehicle and located it abandoned a short time later in the area of Belmont Avenue. Officers located the second suspect nearby and placed him under arrest.

As a result of the investigation, Hamilton Police have charged:

The Hamilton Police Break, Enter, Auto Theft and Robbery (BEAR) Unit is investigating four robberies that occurred between September 6 and September 25, 2026.

Three of the robberies occurred at businesses in the Barton Street East and Kenilworth Avenue North area, with an additional robbery occurring at a business on Upper Ottawa Street on the Hamilton Mountain.

The robberies occurred on:

• September 6, 2026, at approximately 8:15 p.m.
• September 17, 2026, at approximately 11:25 p.m.
• September 18, 2026, at approximately 2:40 p.m.
• September 25, 2026, at approximately 8:05 p.m.

Through continued investigation, police believe the same suspect is responsible for the robberies.

During the incidents, the suspect entered the businesses and demanded money from staff. In at least one incident, the suspect threatened staff with what was believed to be a firearm. The suspect fled on foot before police arrived.

Hamilton Police are currently investigating a theft from a residence on Rosslyn Avenue in which a family urn was taken.

On August 21, 2026, a fire occurred at a home on Rosslyn Avenue which subsequently destroyed a neighbouring home. The neighbours were unable to continue residing in the home and had to be relocated until repairs could be completed. During that time, someone broke into the vacant home and stole jewelry, collectable items, and other valuables. Sadly, the urn holding the victim’s parent’s ashes was also taken.

On Thursday September 24, 2026 at approximately 8:15a.m., officers were called to the area of Centennial Parkway and Queenston Road for a report of a stabbing. Initial information stated that a 45-year-old female was seated on a bench in the Eastgate Square bus terminal shelter reading a book when she was attacked from behind. The interaction was brief and the suspect fled in an unknown direction.

The Victim suffered serious, non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatement.

A full description of the suspect was not captured; however he is believed to be a male wearing a black t-shirt and dark coloured pants. He may also have been wearing a backpack at the time of the incident.

At this time, this incident is believed to have been an unprovoked, random attack.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and asking those in the area between the hours of 7:45am to 8:15am to contact Police if they observed anything suspicious.

Hamilton Police have arrested Ebunoluwa Tomiwa after he turned himself into Police earlier this morning. Tomiwa will be appearing in court for a bail hearing.

Ebunoluwa Tomiwa, 33 years old, of Belleville was arrested for the following charges;

• Procuring for Sexual Services

• Material Benefit – Trafficking of Persons

• Withholding Documents

Each division will initially deploy four dedicated ACTION officers, with the teams expanding to eight full-time officers in each division by January 2027.

ACTION – Addressing Crime Trends In Our Neighbourhoods – provides divisions with dedicated resources to respond to emerging and persistent crime and public safety concerns. Officers will focus on crime trends, chronic offenders and recurring neighbourhood issues while building relationships with residents, businesses and community partners.

“Every neighbourhood is unique, and the concerns of the people who live and work there need to be heard to help inform our response,” says Hamilton Police Chief Frank Bergen. “ACTION gives our divisions dedicated resources to focus on those concerns, strengthen relationships and proactively address the issues impacting community safety and quality of life.”

ACTION officers will use evidence-based and intelligence-led policing to identify where resources are needed and will combine prevention, intervention, enforcement and community engagement to address local priorities.

Officers will be highly visible and in uniform, deploying in marked police vehicles and, where appropriate, on foot and bicycle. Teams will primarily operate during the day and evening, when opportunities for proactive enforcement and community engagement are greatest.

Each team will report to its divisional Crime Manager, allowing officers to be deployed based on divisional crime trends, intelligence and community concerns.

ACTION was originally introduced as a city-wide initiative focused on reducing violence and enhancing community safety. As staffing needs evolved, its proactive approach and resources were integrated into frontline patrol, continuing to support community safety across Hamilton.

The return of ACTION reimagines that model by giving Divisions 20 and 30 dedicated teams tailored to the needs of the communities they serve. The additional staffing was approved in the 2026 police budget.

Members of the Hamilton Police Service Central HEAT Unit have seized significant quantities of illicit drugs, prescription medications, Canadian currency and prohibited weapons following a month-long investigation into drug trafficking in central Hamilton.

On September 17, 2026, officers executed two search warrants at residences in central Hamilton as part of an investigation involving Zijie ZHOU.

As a result of searches, officers seized the following:

• 1.4 kilograms of fentanyl
• 900 grams of methamphetamine
• 200 grams of cocaine
• More than 35,000 prescription pills, including oxycodone, hydromorphone, morphine and benzodiazepines
• Canadian currency
• Two prohibited weapons

The illicit drugs seized are estimated to have a street value of approximately $250,000. The prescription medications are estimated to have a street value of approximately $600,000.

Investigators believe that a significant quantity of the prescription medications were initially obtained through legitimate prescriptions before being diverted into the illegal drug trade for non-medical purposes.

As a result of the investigation, Zijie ZHOU has been charged with numerous offences, including, but not limited to:

• Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking — Fentanyl, contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
• Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking — Cocaine, contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
• Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
• Possession of Prohibited Weapon x2

A 2017 Acura Integra struck a male pedestrian as the driver was exiting the parking garage.

The male pedestrian was transported to the hospital, with serious life-threatening injuries. 

All investigative avenues are being considered at this time.

Hamilton Police Collision Reconstruction Unit has taken carriage of the investigation. Any potential witnesses to this collision are urged to come forward. Darien Wilson, 18, was arrested shortly after the shooting and has been charged with:

• Two counts of Aggravated Assault

A firearm was also recovered.

On Friday, September 18, 2026, at approximately 2:12 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to the area of King Street East and Lawrence Road following reports of a shooting.

Patrol officers located two victims suffering from gunshot wounds and provided assistance. Both were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Shooting Response Team (SRT) assumed carriage of the investigation and believes the shooting was targeted. The Homicide Unit is now assisting with the investigation following the laying of the Attempted Murder charge.

Police continue to investigate and are asking anyone with information, or who may have dash camera, residential security or cellphone video from the area at the time of the shooting, to contact investigators.

On September 18, 2026 at approximately 1:00a.m., officers were called to hotel on Main Street West near Whitney Avenue for a disturbance. Initial information stated that a group of individuals were physically fighting and one male was bleeding.

Upon arrival, officers located the injured male, a 54-year old male from Hamilton, and provided assistance with his wounds. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Hamilton Police Special Constables located the suspect, a 35-year-old male from Hamilton, at a nearby location. He was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault.

The Hamilton Police k9 unit conducted a search of the area and located the knife used in the incident.

Hamilton Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying two females wanted in connection with an assault that left a Hamilton woman with serious injuries.

On July 17, 2026, at approximately 10:35 p.m., officers were called to a residence on Market Street, near Caroline Street North, following a report of an assault.

A 47-year-old woman from Hamilton was standing outside the residence when she was approached and confronted by two unknown females. The victim was assaulted and sustained serious injuries that required surgery. She was transported to a local hospital, where she received medical treatment.

Officers conducted a search of the surrounding area; however, the two suspects were not located.

Police are seeking to identify the following individuals:

• Approximately 15 to 24 years of age
• Long black hair
• Wearing a black shirt and black shorts

Suspect 2:

• Female

• Medium build
• Wearing white or grey shorts and a tank top

On Wednesday September 16, 2026 at approximately 7:30p.m., a female youth was walking along the sidewalk of Mud Street near First Road West when she was approached by two males on an E-Scooter. The males produced a BB gun and fired multiple pellets toward her as they scootered by.

The victim continued walking and encountered the males a second time near a pedestrian tunnel close to Valley Park Recreation Center. The males began firing more pellets while the victim attempted to run away.

A description of the suspects could not be obtained, however officers are working on collecting CCTV footage from homes and businesses in the area and are also appealing for witnesses.

The video is connected to an active investigation into two targeted incidents that occurred on July 25, 2026. One youth has been charged, and investigators continue to work to identify the remaining individuals involved.

At approximately 9:00 a.m., a vehicle occupied by several youths attended a residence on the Hamilton Mountain. Two people were sprayed with bear spray, with one sustaining minor injuries.

Investigators believe the individuals at the residence were targeted because of their connection to the intended targets.

Later that afternoon, at approximately 4:00 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to Burkholder Park after receiving reports of a vehicle being driven through the park.

Several youths were observed inside the vehicle. During the incident, the vehicle was driven toward the intended targets while bear spray was discharged from a window. One occupant was also observed holding a large knife outside the vehicle.

No injuries were reported.

Investigators believe the two incidents are connected, and both were targeted.

Police identified the driver of the vehicle and made an arrest later that day. The accused, who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was held for a bail hearing and charged with:

• Disguise with Intent
• Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm
• Assault with a Weapon
• Administering a Noxious Thing with Intent to Endanger Life or Cause Bodily Harm
• Fail to Comply with Probation x2

The vehicle used during the incidents had been reported stolen and has since been recovered by police and held for forensic examination.

The investigation remains ongoing as investigators work to identify the remaining individuals involved. Police believe the outstanding suspects are also youths.

On September 14, 2026, at approximately 10:36 p.m., a male entered a convenience store in downtown Hamilton and indicated that he was in possession of a firearm. The male proceeded to rob the business and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

On September 15, 2026, at approximately 12:50 a.m., two individuals entered a convenience store in the Crown Point neighbourhood. After remaining inside the business for a period of time, the individuals robbed the store of cash before fleeing the area.

Based on the circumstances of the incidents, investigators believed the second robbery may be connected to the earlier robbery. Members of the Hamilton Police Service BEAR Unit subsequently mobilized in the area and conducted proactive patrols at convenience stores throughout the neighbourhood. Officers spoke with clerks and business owners to make them aware of the recent robberies and provided a visible police presence.

While conducting these patrols, officers interrupted two individuals who were actively in the process of robbing a third convenience store in the Crown Point neighbourhood.

The individuals fled the area on foot but were apprehended by officers following a short foot pursuit. Both were arrested without further incident.

A 21-year-old male has been charged with:

Hamilton Police continue to investigate the death of a man who was assaulted in May and later died from his injuries.

On May 31, 2026, at approximately 11:20 a.m., police responded to the area of Wentworth Street North and Bristol Street following reports of an assault.

Officers located an adult male suffering from a serious head injury. He was transported to hospital, where he remained until his death on July 30, 2026.

As the investigation progressed, detectives determined the assault occurred in Pinky Lewis Parkette, located at 169 Sanford Avenue North.

Investigators are working to identify the person responsible and believe the suspect frequents the Tim Hortons located at 505 Cannon Street East. Images of the subject are being released.

The suspect is described as:

• Medium build
• White T-shirt
• White shorts
• White bucket-style hat

The investigation remains ongoing, and detectives continue to pursue several investigative avenues.

Investigators with the Hamilton Police Major Drugs and Gangs, Human Trafficking Unit have charged a man in connection with a human trafficking investigation.

The investigation began in September 2026, after Hamilton Police learned of a video that was released on social media.  

On August 29, 2026, Ariel Rojas approached a fifteen-year-old youth and offered to facilitate her engaging in sexual services. Rojas asked the victim to participate in making pornographic material.

Ariel Rojas was arrested and held for bail.

• Procuring for Sexual Services Under 18
• Fail to Comply Probation (x4)

Hamilton Police are releasing an image of Ariel Rojas as investigators believe there are additional victims and witnesses and are encouraging them to come forward.

On July 22, 2026, at approximately 12:24 a.m., two individuals entered a City of Hamilton facility in central Hamilton and stole several sets of keys belonging to City fleet vehicles. The suspects then left the area in a stolen City vehicle.

Within hours, one of the stolen vehicles was stopped by police in another jurisdiction for stunt driving and seized. At the time of the traffic stop, the vehicle had not yet been reported stolen.

As the investigation progressed, detectives with the Hamilton Police Break, Enter, Auto Theft and Robbery (BEAR) Unit connected the vehicle to the break-in. A second stolen City vehicle was later recovered by Hamilton Police during an unrelated investigation. Both vehicles have since been returned to the City of Hamilton.

Investigators identified two men and warrants were issued for their arrest.

Mark MCCOMBE, 55, was arrested in Toronto while attempting to board a flight leaving the country.

Brandon POOLE, 35, remains wanted and is believed to have no fixed address, frequenting the Hamilton, Niagara and Burlington areas.

Both men face the following charges:

• Disguise with Intent
• Theft of a Motor Vehicle

In July 2025, Hamilton Police received a report concerning content posted publicly to an account on the social media platform X. The Hamilton Police Hate Crime Unit began an investigation into the account and the material being shared.

Through the investigation, police identified Simran MANDER, 27, of Stoney Creek, as the individual believed to be operating the account.

Following the required consent of the Attorney General to proceed with charges, MANDER was arrested on September 9, 2026, and charged with:

• Wilful Promotion of Hatred
• Wilful Promotion of Antisemitism
• Advocating Genocide

The charges have not been proven in court.

On Monday, September 7, 2026, at approximately 6:22 p.m., the man was found unresponsive on the sidewalk near Dundas Street East and 1st Street. He was transported to hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Based on the circumstances known at the time, the death was not considered suspicious.

In the days that followed, investigators reviewed video footage, spoke with witnesses and received additional information, including findings from a post-mortem examination. As the investigation progressed, information emerged that raised concerns about the circumstances surrounding the man's death.

The death is now being investigated as suspicious and the Hamilton Police Homicide Unit has assumed carriage of the investigation. At this time, the death has not been classified as a homicide.

Detectives are appealing to anyone who was in the area of Dundas Street East between Spring Creek Drive and 1st Street from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on September 7 and may have witnessed anything that could assist the investigation.

Police are also asking residents, businesses and motorists in the area to review security, doorbell and dash camera footage from that timeframe. Investigators are particularly interested in any footage that captured activity along Dundas Street East or the surrounding area.

On Friday, September 4, 2026, shortly before 7:00 p.m., police responded to reports of gunfire in the area of John Prentice Park, near Renata Court. Officers located three males near a wooded area of the park. Two were arrested nearby, while a third fled the area.

The Shooting Response Team, with assistance from Divisional Criminal Investigations, assumed carriage of the investigation and determined that a firearm had been discharged multiple times.

On September 8, 2026, investigators executed a search warrant at a Hamilton residence and seized several firearms, ammunition, armoured plating and tactical equipment.

As a result of the investigation, the following individuals have been charged:

• A 27-year-old Oakville man with Careless Use of a Firearm and Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm.
• A 25-year-old Thornbury man with Careless Use of a Firearm and Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm.

A 25-year-old Dundas man has also been identified and is currently wanted for Careless Use of a Firearm, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm and Reckless Discharge of a Firearm.

Investigators continue to seek information from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have dash camera, residential security or cellphone video from the area at the time of the shooting.

On September 9, 2026, at approximately 5:30 p.m., officers were called to the area of Main Street West and Frid Street for a report of a stabbing. A 16-year-old male victim called 911 and reported that he had been randomly attacked by an unknown male and believed he had suffered a stab wound.

Officers immediately attended the area and located the victim. He was transported to a local hospital, where his injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening.

Several roads in the area were closed to assist with the search for the suspect and the investigation.

The suspect was located nearby and arrested without incident. Members of the Hamilton Police K9 Unit searched the area and successfully located the weapon believed to have been used in the attack.

The operator of the aforementioned motorcycle was transported to a local area hospital by EMS, with serious, life threatening injuries.  The stretch of Queenston Road (east and west), between the north and south exits to the Redhill Valley Parkway will be closed for several hours.  

The Hamilton Police Collision Reconstruction Unit has taken carriage of the investigation.  Investigators are requesting any motorists in the area at the time of the collision to check their dash cameras and any residences or businesses in the area with surveillance cameras to review their camera footage.
