                        <title>Fugitive Arrested- Quincy Owen Francis</title>

                        <guid>https://hamiltonpolice.on.ca/news/fugitive-arrested--quincy-owen-francis/</guid><pp:caseid>654568</pp:caseid><description><![CDATA[<img src="https://content.presspage.com/uploads/2189/aa20660e-04df-4682-a842-78e8d944564d/1920_newsrelease-mp-jul08-2024.jpg?10000"><p><span>Hamilton Police have successfully arrested 29-year-old Quincy Owen Francis, a fugitive linked to a series of residential break-ins that took place between Saturday, April 6, 2024, and Friday, August 2, 2024.</span></p><p><span>Quincy Owen Francis now faces multiple charges, including:</span></p><ul><li><span>Six Counts of Break and Enter</span></li><li><span>Five Counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000</span></li><li><span>Proceeds of Crime Under $5000</span></li><li><span>Two Counts of Vehicle Theft</span></li></ul><p><span>Investigations have revealed that Quincy is suspected of entering approximately 25 homes across Stoney Creek, Ancaster, and Flamborough.                         <title>Suspects Arrested While Washing Stolen Vehicle at Carwash</title>

Vehicle was being operated by a male driver with a female passenger.</span></p><p><span>The stolen vehicle was seen pulling into a self-serve car wash at the intersection of Main Street East and Prospect Street South. The male driver exited the vehicle and began to wash it, while a female passenger remained inside.                         <title>Impaired Driver Leads to Seizure of Loaded Firearm</title>

Upon arrival, police located a silver Jeep Grand Cherokee parked in the drive-thru with an unresponsive single passenger in the driver’s seat of the vehicle.</span></p><p><span>Police gained entry to the vehicle and checked on the wellbeing of the driver, who was hunched over and appeared sweaty.                         <guid>https://hamiltonpolice.on.ca/news/arrest-made-in-suspicious-vehicle-investigation/</guid><pp:caseid>620712</pp:caseid><description><![CDATA[<p><span>Hamilton Police have identified and arrested a 35-year-old man after report of a suspicious vehicle.</span></p><p><span>On Thursday, February 8, 2024, as a female was walking in the area of King Street East and Barnesdale Avenue South, she was followed and approached by the male driver of a black Honda Civic.&nbsp; After a brief interaction, the vehicle left the area in an unknown direction.&nbsp; No physical contact was initiated during the incident and no one was physically injured.</span></p><p><span>Hamilton Police have arrested and charged the driver of the suspicious vehicle, 35-year-old, Issa Ahmad Aldeeb of Hamilton with one count of Criminal Harassment.&nbsp;</span></p><p><span>Issa Ahmad Aldeeb has been released on an Undertaking.</span></p><p><span>Additional victims have stepped forward, prompting ongoing police investigations.                         <title>Male Arrested in Possession of Firearm</title>

                        <title>Police Make Arrest in Ancaster Little League Bleacher Theft</title>

                        <guid>https://hamiltonpolice.on.ca/news/police-make-arrest-in-ancaster-little-league-bleacher-theft/</guid><pp:caseid>583083</pp:caseid><description><![CDATA[<p><span>Hamilton Police successfully apprehended a male responsible for the theft and possession of the Ancaster Little League bleachers valued over $10,000.</span></p><p><span>On Tuesday, June 27, 2023, a volunteer attended the baseball park located at 268 Jerseyville Road, Ancaster and observed that the aluminum bleachers had been stolen. Police liaised with local Metal Recyclers and the Aluminum bleachers were found to have been brought in for scrap metal on the morning of Tuesday, June 27, 2023.</span></p><p><span>Through investigation, police were able to identify Naithan Bachiu-Tait, a 28-year-old male from Hamilton, as one of the individuals responsible for the theft of the Ancaster Little League bleachers.</span></p><p><span>On Thursday, July 20, 2023, Naithan Bachiu-Tait was arrested and taken into custody by the police. She is the second adult arrested in the case.&nbsp;</p><p><br>On Thursday, November 10, 2022, at approximately 11:00 a.m., police responded to 195 Ferguson Avenue North in Hamilton for reports of a deceased 38-year-old female who was found in her apartment. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene. Police believe Danielle died late Sunday evening or early Monday morning.</p><p><br>Today, a 42-year-old female was charged with accessory after the fact of murder in relation to the Strauss homicide. This charge is relation to the 16-year-old male youth currently in custody.&nbsp;<br>The Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA) prohibits the investigators from releasing her name as it may lead to the identity of one of the youths charged with 2nd degree murder. The accused will make a brief court appearance tomorrow morning at the John Sopinka Courthouse.&nbsp;<br><br>Detectives continue to investigate those who may have assisted the youth involved in this murder.&nbsp;<br><br>The cause of death is not being released as it remains evidence. One suspect remains outstanding.</span></p><p><span>On Monday, August 15, 2022, shortly after 9:40 a.m. Hamilton Police received reports of a male appearing in distress with visible injuries running in the area of Oriole Crescent. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment.</span></p><p><span>On Sunday, August 14, 2022, at approximately 11:00 a.m., the victim was contacted by an old acquaintance and the two made arrangements to meet up. The victim was picked up from his residence, drove to a few locations, eventually returning to a residence in Hamilton’s east end.</span></p><p><span>The victim advised he remembers walking through the front door of the residence. Upon entering the residence, he was struck in the back of the head with a foreign object. The guns included a sawed off shotgun, a .308 calibre loaded rifle as well as a loaded .22 calibre rifle and over 100 rounds of ammunition. At this time, the victim remains in critical condition and unconscious. The public have continued to assist the police with information since the incident occurred on Monday, June 27, in the early morning hours.&nbsp;<br><br>Today, we are announcing that the suspect responsible for this senseless beating and sexual assault has been identified and was arrested last night at approximately 10:00 p.m. by detectives without incident.&nbsp;<br><br>The accused, Gbenga Emmanuel Obajuluwa, a 24-year-old male from Hamilton. This male will appear in court later this morning and will be charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault. A 38-year-old male was located in a wooded area and pronounced deceased on scene.</span></span></span></span></span></p><p><span><span><span><span><span style="color:black">The death was suspicious and the Hamilton Police Major Crime Unit assumed the investigation. A 26-year-old male has been safely taken into custody and charged with robbery.</span></span></span></span></span></span></p>

<p><span><span><span><span><span><span>On July 13, 2020, shortly before 5:30 a.m., Police was dispatched to Payless Convenience Store located at 146 Kenilworth Avenue Street North in Hamilton for an attempted robbery. The suspect told the clerk he had a gun and demanded money from the cash register. He was last seen leaving the store on his e-bike.</span></span></span></span></span></span></p>

<p><span><span><span><span><span><span>The male was identified through investigative measures and police safely execute the arrest warrant at his Catharine Street residence. The initial threat of a gun was an intimidation tactic&nbsp;and no gun actually existed.</span></span></span></span></span></span></p>

                        <title>Two Correctional Officers Charged</title>

                        <guid>https://hamiltonpolice.on.ca/news/two-correctional-officers-charged/</guid><pp:caseid>394208</pp:caseid><description><![CDATA[<p><span><span><span>As a result of information gleaned through a joint intelligence-sharing initiative between the Hamilton Wentworth Detention Centre and the Hamilton Police Service Intelligence Unit, two former correction officers were arrested and charged.</span></span></span></p>

<p><span><span><span>This investigation group was formed as a result of the Coroner&rsquo;s inquest into the overdose deaths inside the detention centre. The Hamilton Police Service Intelligence Unit and the Hamilton Wentworth Detention Centre jointly conducted a six-month investigation in relation to two Correctional Officers distributing illicit cannabis as well as other contraband to inmates within the Hamilton Wentworth Detention Centre.</span></span></span></p>

<p><span><span><span>As a result of the investigation, former Correctional Officers James Mcrae and Pierre-Luc Plouffe were charged. Both worked independently of one another to distribute contraband within the Hamilton Wentworth Detention Centre and are no longer employed as Correctional Officers.</span></span></span></p>

                        <title>Professor Charged with Sexual  Assault</title>

<p><span><span><span>On June 18, 2020, a 46-year-old Hamilton man was arrested in relation to offences that occurred in 2017. Police believe there may be other victims.</span></span></span></p>

                        <title>Serious Assault Upgraded to Attempt Murder</title>

The initial Aggravated Assault charge has been upgraded to Attempt Murder.</span></span></span></span></span></span></p>

<p><span><span><span><span><span><span>On Saturday, May 30, 2020, shortly before 9:00 p.m., an altercation occurred between two males in the Bottoms Up Bar & Grill parking lot on Barton Street East in Hamilton. A 32-year-old male received serious injuries to his face and neck by a knife. The assailant fled the scene on foot but was located several blocks away by uniform officers. At this time he was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault, Weapons Offences and Breach of Probation.</span></span></span></span></span></span></p>

<p><span><span><span><span><span><span>The victim was located and transported to the hospital in serious condition.</span></span></span></span></span></span></p>

<p><span><span><span><span><span><span>On Monday, June 8, 2020, further evidence was received resulting in the case to be transferred to the Hamilton Police Major Crime Unit. The accused of No Fixed Address appeared in court by video on June 9, 2020, and charged with Attempt Murder. He remains in custody.</span></span></span></span></span></span></p>

                        <title>Patrol Officer Locates Drugs During Traffic Stop</title>

<p>On May 26, 2020, shortly after 2:15 a.m., police noticed a silver 2019 Chevrolet Malibu emerge from an alleyway&nbsp;on Burton Street and Emerald Street in Hamilton. Prior to conducting a traffic stop police confirmed the Chevrolet plates were registered to a car rental company in London.</p>

<p>Police stopped the vehicle on Burton Street just south of Emerald. During the investigation police learned the driver and passenger had outstanding warrants with Ottawa and Hamilton Police Services.</p>

<p>During the search of the vehicle police located Methamphetamine, Codeine and Fentanyl with an approximate street worth of $26,800 and over $5000 in cash.</p>

<p>The two Hamilton males were arrested and brought into custody with their bail opposed.</p>

                        <title>Hamilton Couple Charged in Drug Unit Investigation</title>

A large quantity of cocaine and cash were recovered.</p>

<p>On May 7, 2020, the Vice and Drug Unit executed a search warrant in the early morning hours at a residence in the city&rsquo;s east end. During a search of the address officers located a large quantity of cocaine valued at approximately $400,000.00 and seized in excess of $150,000.00 in cash. A couple residing at that address has&nbsp;been arrested and charged.</p>

<p>On January 21,&nbsp;2020, shortly after 9:00 a.m., three individuals were involved in a home invasion on Garth and West 5<sup>th</sup> in Hamilton. The homeowner received minor injuries when he was struck over the head with a weapon and pepper-sprayed.</p>

<p>Two out of the three parties were arrested and Hamilton Police issued an arrest warrant for the outstanding male.</p>

<p>On February 19, 2020, shortly after 10:00 a.m., with the help of Halton Regional Police, Joshua Benoit was located inside a Burlington Hotel room. He was arrested without incident and brought back to Hamilton Police custody where he awaits&nbsp;bail court.</p>

                        <title>Man Facing Child Pornography Charges Throws Evidence out Window</title>

<p>The male suspect was identified as residing in Hamilton and a search warrant was executed at his home on January 16, 2020. When police arrived, the male was attempting to discard evidence by throwing it out a window. The evidence was located and seized and the suspect was arrested and charged. A forensic examination of devices capable of storing digital media is ongoing and it is possible that further charges may be filed.</p>

<p>On January 29, 2020, shortly before 10:00 p.m., an out of town person exited their parked vehicle from an underground parking spot in the area of King Street West and Bay Street North in Hamilton. The woman began walking from her car when she was grabbed from behind by an unknown male.</p>

<p>Hamilton police were able to confirm his identity through investigative techniques. On January 30, 2020, shortly before 5:30 p.m., police located the male at the Toronto Pearson International Airport&nbsp;waiting to board a plane&nbsp;home.&nbsp;The male was arrested and brought back to Hamilton Police were he remains in custody with his bail opposed.</p>

<p>Police located the male on Saturday, January 25, 2020, at an east-end Hamilton residence. He was arrested and transported to Central Custody with his bail opposed.&nbsp;</p>

                        <title>Dundas Teen Arrested for Arson</title>

<p>On Wednesday, December 4, 2019, shortly after 1:00 a.m., police and Hamilton Fire responded to numerous small fires in the areas of Cayley Court, Parkside Avenue, York Road, Cameron Avenue, McKay Court and East Avenue North in Dundas. Hamilton Fire had been called to extinguish fires to recycling bins, piles of leaves and personal outdoor items left outside residential homes.</p>

<p>A male fitting the suspect description was stopped by police while walking down the middle of Cayley Court shortly before 1:30 a.m. During a conversation with the suspect, police were able to identify evidence which placed him at the scene of the arsons.</p>

<p>The youth has been charged with several criminal offences with the potential to lay more charges as the investigation continues.</p>

                        <title>UPDATE: Outstanding Male Identified from Brigade Home Invasion</title>

The 20-year-old male was arrested and brought into custody on November 13, 2019, with his bail opposed.</p>

<p>On August 28, 2019, shortly before 11:00 a.m., police responded to a 911 call from a resident on Brigade Drive in Hamilton. The victim indicated there were two unknown males inside the home and feared for their safety.</p>

<p>Police arrived and arrested one male on the scene but the second armed male escaped. A local school was placed into a hold and secure at the time.</p>

<p>On November 13, 2019, shortly after 4:00 p.m., Hamilton Police located the outstanding male suspect getting into a vehicle near his residence in Grimsby and placed him under arrest. The weapon was not recovered.</p>

<p>On October 19, 2019, shortly before 4:00 p.m., police attended the area of 3 Emerald Street North in Hamilton for mischief in progress call. There were reports of someone spray-painting Nazi symbols on a dumpster.</p>

<p>When police arrived they observed Swastikas, SS Lightning Bolt symbols as well as hate/bias-related speech sprayed with black paint on the exterior of a garbage bin. Police checked the area and located male hiding behind the dumpster with evidence placing him at the scene.</p>

                        <title>Former Branch Manager Charged with Fraud Over $5,000</title>

<p>On April 25, 2019, Major Fraud received a report from CIBC Corporate Security regarding an internal investigation alleging one of their employees had stolen a large sum of money from branch customers. The employee had resigned in 2015.</p>

<p>A lengthy investigation commenced and revealed approximately 1.7 million dollars had been stolen from seniors or recently deceased branch customers from 2008 to 2015.</p>

<p>On September 24, 2019, police arrested and charged 60-year-old Sandra Walker from Burlington with fraud charges.</p>

<p>Walker was released on a Promise to Appear and expected to appear in court on October 24, 2019, at 9:00 a.m.</p>

<p>On September 18, 2019, shortly before 9:00 p.m., police were called to the area of Barton Street East to check on a male spray painting exterior walls and bus shelters. When Police arrived they noticed a male fitting the description walking westbound on Barton Street with a spray can hanging out from his jacket pocket. He was placed under arrest for Mischief and during the search police located Crystal Methamphetamine and Fentanyl in his possession.</p>

<p>He was transported back to Central custody with his bail opposed and expected to appear in court on September 19, 2019, to answer to his charges.</p>

A female has been identified and charged with Aggravated Assault.</p>

<p>When police arrived shortly before 1: 30 a.m., a 35-year-old male from Brantford was suffering from serious stab wounds to the chest. Police identified that the male and female were known to each other prior to the altercation.</p>

<p>The male was transported to the hospital in serious condition. A 32-year-old female from Hamilton has been arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault. She remains in custody and expected to attend court later today.</p>

                        <title>Officer Finds Stolen Dieppe Veterans’ Memorial Plaque During Traffic Stop</title>

Police have charged two Hamilton men with theft and possession after confirming where the plaque went missing. The Dieppe Veterans&rsquo; Memorial Plaque has been returned to the City so it can be placed back into its appropriate location.</p>

<p>On August 26, 2019, shortly after 10:00 a.m. police conducted a routine traffic stop in the area of Woodward Avenue and Glow Avenue in Hamilton. The 2012 Hyundai was occupied by a male driver and passenger. The driver was unable to provide police with any identification. However, through further investigation police identified that the male was wanted by HPS for fail to appear court so he was arrested on the strength of the warrant.</p>

<p>While searching the vehicle police observed in plain view a large bronze plaque and backpack with break and enter tools inside sitting on the back seat of the vehicle. The plaque was 2x4 feet in size, weighing 150-200 lbs with a depiction of the Dieppe Veterans Memorial Park and a caption detailing the single bloodiest day for the Canadian Military during WW2.</p>

<p>Police believed at this time the plaque had been stolen and continued with his investigation. The officer located the Dieppe Veterans Memorial Park at 1033 Beach Boulevard in Hamilton, approximately 3 km away from the traffic stop.</p>

<p>Police attended the park and found the plaque to be missing.</p>

<p>The value of the plaque is estimated at $30,000.</p>

<p>Both males were arrested for theft and possession of the stolen property and transported to Central Custody with their bail opposed.</p>

                        <guid>https://hamiltonpolice.on.ca/news/four-arrested-for-armed-robbery-at-local-shoppers-drug-mart/</guid><pp:caseid>347041</pp:caseid><description><![CDATA[<p>Hamilton Police have conducted a six-month investigation involving an armed robbery at a local Shoppers Drug Mart. The Hamilton Police BEAR Unit has made four arrests and there is potential for more.</p>

<p>On January 15, 2019, shortly after 9:00 p.m., four males attended the Shoppers Drug Mart, located at 963 Fennell Avenue East in Hamilton, armed with a loaded firearm. A pharmacist was ordered to fill a garbage bag with narcotics. The suspects fled from the store and no physical injuries were sustained. Hours later, Police recovered the garbage bag of narcotics, the loaded firearm and two associated stolen motor vehicles.</p>

<p>After a six month investigation, four males were identified and have since been arrested and charged with over 55 Robbery and Firearms related offences.</p>

<p>Charged:</p>

<li>Erik Kalanyos (23-years, male) of Hamilton</li>
<li>Petr Krajnak (20-years, male) of Hamilton</li>
<li>17-year-old male from Hamilton</li>
<li>16-year-old male from Hamilton</li>
</ul>

<p>The investigation is ongoing and Police expect to make additional arrests.</p>
