On Wednesday, June 14, 2023, a vehicle was reported stolen from the  area of Paris Ontario and was later located near Limeridge Mall in Hamilton. Hamilton Police officers responded to the stolen auto however the vehicle proceeded to strike a marked police cruiser before fleeing from police. A short time later the vehicle was located in another part of Hamilton abandon.

On Monday, June 19, 2023, Cody Atkinson, a 22-year-old male from Hamilton, was arrested and is charged with the following:

·         Vehicle Theft

·         Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

·         Possession, Use, Traffic Credit Card

·         Fail to Comply Probation

During the course of this investigation, our detectives were faced with challenging circumstances. In the City’s East End our detectives located a stolen vehicle and one of the suspects continued to ram police vehicles and pointed a firearm at police. The firearm was later deemed to be a replica firearm not capable of discharging ammunition however appeared authentic. Detectives were able to safety arrest the occupants of this stolen vehicle and no one was injured.

Hamilton Police are looking for witnesses to come forward in regards to an arson.  

On Saturday, April 15, 2023, at approximately 12:05 a.m., Hamilton Police and emergency partners responded to a fire at a recreation centre on Centre Rd in Carlisle.  A fire was set to the roof of the recreation centre causing approximately $100,000 in damages.     

Police believe two suspects, a male and female in their late teens with thin builds were responsible in setting the fire.

The investigation is fluid and investigators are encouraging the responsible party to seek legal counsel and turn themselves in.

Hamilton Police continue to investigate a firearm involved commercial robbery.

On Wednesday, November 16, 2022, a robbery occurred at a commercial business in the area of Main Street West and Emerson Street.

The suspect is described as, a white male, approximately 5’10, wearing a black toque, black North Face jacket with logos on the left breast pocket and right rear shoulder, wearing a multi coloured face covering, black shoes and was seen leaving the location with a blue grocery style bag.

A black handgun style firearm was observed during the incident.

No one sustained any physically injuries.

In December 2021, the Hamilton Police Break Enter and Robbery Unit began an investigation into the trafficking of stolen property through a Hamilton Pawn Shop. 

The investigation revealed that over $200,000 in stolen property has been trafficked through the pawn shop since 2018.

Police have arrested and charged an individual in relation to these crimes.

Strileski is held for a bail hearing and will be appearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Hamilton.

Investigators have identified seven local businesses as victims of crime. Police are continuing to work on locating other victims and return the property to their lawful owner.

On Wednesday, January 19, 2022, the Hamilton Police HEAT Unit, with the assistance of the BEAR Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence in the area of King Street and Steven Street.

Two adult males and one youth male have been arrested and charged. 

As a result of the search warrant, police located and seized:

• Loaded revolver
• 8 grams of fentanyl

This is not the end. The citizens of Hamilton need to continue to feel safe in their communities and as a community we need to stop gun violence.

On Thursday, June 3 2021, at approximately 12:00 p.m., a male suspect attended Hamilton Kosher Meats located at 889 King Street West in the City of Hamilton and committed a break and enter.

While in the establishment, the suspect proceeded to open the large walk-in freezer and filled a garbage can with product before fleeing the scene on foot.

The suspect stole approximately $1700-1800 worth of inventory.

On Sunday, April 18, 2021, shortly after 6:30 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to a robbery at a fast-food restaurant in the area of Centre Mall.

Through investigation, police learned a single male suspect attended the store and committed the robbery.

The suspect was last seen fleeing on Barton Street East. He was on foot.

The store employees were not physically injured.

Investigators from the BEAR Unit are appealing for the public's assistance in identifying the suspect in this investigation.

On Friday, April 16, 2021, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Hamilton Police and emergency service partners were dispatched to a residence located on the Hamilton mountain for reports of an explosion.

No one was located within the residence and no reports of injuries.

The Mountain Division Criminal Investigations Branch initially responded for the incident, however the office of the Ontario Fire Marshall was contacted and have taken over the investigation with the assistance of the Hamilton Police Service.

A police presence is expected at the residence during this time.

On Thursday, November 26, 2020, shortly after midnight, an unknown suspect gained access to a commercial business, Mr.Lube by prying open a door.

The business is located in Stoney Creek, 146 Upper Mt. Albion Road.

The suspect targeted the cash register and stole an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect fled the scene in a dark coloured Dodge Charger.

Detectives are seeking assistance from the public in identifying the suspect and suspect vehicle.

On Friday, January 8, 2021, shortly before 6:00 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to a commercial robbery on the east mountain.

Information obtained at the scene was that two male suspects armed with black handguns, entered a Pharmacy, threatened on-duty staff and obtained a quantity of narcotics. They fled on foot.

The same two suspects, targeted another pharmacy on January 18, 2021 in the west end of Hamilton and then a second on January 19, 2021 on the west mountain. In both incidents, the two suspects were armed with a handgun and were able to obtain a quantity of narcotics.

The suspects have been targeting small independent pharmacies after sunset.

There were no physical injuries reported to police.

Hamilton Police are warning the public to be aware of catalytic converters thefts as the numbers have escalated in the last couple of months. In December 2019, 35 incidents were reported and 31 in January 2020.

A component of the exhaust system, catalytic converters contain high-value metal that is then sold at scrap metal yards. Larger-style SUVs appear to be the focus because of accessibility to the converter. The converter can be removed in less than two minutes. Parking lots such as malls, educational facilities and other commercial areas have been targeted.

On Thursday, January 23, 2020, shortly before 9:00 a.m., a male was observed selling two stolen catalytic converters for cash in the area of Burlington Street and Parkdale Avenue North in Hamilton.

The male was brought into custody with his bail opposed.

• Fraud Under $5000
• Trafficking in Property Under $5000
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
• Possession of Burglary Tools
