The victim spotted the suspect asleep in front of a building with her stolen property and notified police.

On Wednesday, September 25, 2019, shortly before 6:00 a.m., Hamilton Police responded to the area of Fullerton Avenue and Princess Street for a theft from an automobile that had just occurred. At the time, witnesses were following the suspect as he attempted to flee. He was eventually able to lose the witnesses in the neighbourhood and an area search conducted by the police was unsuccessful. Police spoke with the victim who advised that her vehicle was also entered almost two weeks prior and after speaking with the witnesses she believed it was the same male involved.

At approximately 9:00 a.m., Hamilton Police responded to the area of Sherman Avenue North and Princess Street as the victim of the theft located the suspect. Upon arrival, the victim pointed out a male who was sleeping in front of a building. In plain view were the stolen items taken from the victim’s vehicle earlier along with other unidentified items. The male was woken up and placed under arrest. A search of the male revealed he was in possession of crystal meth and other stolen items from additional victims. An investigation into the male’s identity confirmed existing warrants for his arrest in four jurisdictions.

He was taken into police custody and appeared in court later in the day to answer to several criminal charges.

Hamilton Police are continuing to investigate this incident and additional charges are pending as stolen items are identified and the victims notified.
