A Honda Odyssey van collided with a Kia Forte on Barton Street East in the area of the railroad tracks next to Belmont Avenue.

The three occupants of the Kia were transported to hospital, one with critical injuries.  The driver of the Honda Odyssey suffered only minor injuries. 

All investigative avenues are being considered at this time.

Motor Vehicle Collision Involving a Cyclist

On Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at approximately 1:40 p.m., the Hamilton Police Service responded to a collision involving a Volvo motor vehicle and a cyclist in the intersection of Concession 2 Road West and Inksetter Road in Flamborough.

A 28-year-old female from Sudbury, who is a post-secondary student in Hamilton, was riding northbound on Inksetter Road when she failed to stop for the stop sign at Concession 2 West and was struck by the Volvo, which was being driven by a 22-year-old male from Dundas.

The driver of the Volvo remained at the scene and is co-operating with investigators.

The cyclist was transported to hospital and is listed in critical but stable condition.

Speed and Driver Impairment have been ruled out.

On Sunday, October 13th, 2024, at approximately 5:42am a collision occurred in the southbound lane of Queen Street South, south of Aberdeen Avenue, in the City of Hamilton. An individual was located on the roadway with serious head injuries and investigation revealed that the individual had been struck by a motor vehicle. The individual was transported to the Hamilton General Hospital by EMS with critical, life threatening injuries. The involved vehicle failed to remain at the scene.

On Monday, October 14^th, 2024, the 61-year-old Hamilton driver turned himself into the Hamilton Police Service and has been charged with Failing to Remain to Cause Bodily Harm under the Criminal Code of Canada.

The 61-year-old Hamilton man will appear in court on Monday, November 18th, 2024.

Witnesses reported that two or three vehicles were racing eastbound on the Lincoln Alexander Parkway in the area of the Upper Gage Avenue overpass. Two of the vehicles collided and lost control.  One vehicle was able to regain control but a Toyota SUV left the road and rolled several times. During the roll, one or more occupants were ejected from the Toyota.

Three of the Toyota occupants were transported to hospital with serious injuries. One of the injured parties, a 15-year-old male from Hamilton, was pronounced dead soon after arriving at the hospital. 

Investigators have learned that a black Ford Focus and Silver Infinity were chasing a Toyota Rav 4 in the parking lot at St. Jean de Brebeuf Secondary School moments before the fatal collision. The collision is believed to be connected to a series of escalating incidents between St. Jean de Brebeuf and Nora Frances Henderson students.

Hamilton Police Service is working with both school communities to ensure the safety of staff and students. Officers will be in the area of St. Jean de Brebeuf and Nora Frances Henderson Secondary schools on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 to maintain a secure environment and address any concerns.

Investigators continue to search for a Silver Infiniti believed to be involved with the fatal collision. The driver is encouraged to turn himself in and speak to detectives.

On Friday, October 11, 2024, just after 2:30 pm, a collision occurred in the eastbound lanes of the Lincoln Alexander Parkway, in Hamilton.

Witnesses reported that two or three vehicles were racing eastbound on the Lincoln Alexander Parkway in the area of the Upper Gage Avenue overpass. Two of the vehicles collided and lost control.  One vehicle was able to regain control but a Toyota SUV left the road and rolled a few times. During the roll, one or more occupants were ejected from the Toyota. 

Three of the Toyota occupants were transported to hospital with serious injuries. One of the injured parties, a 15-year-old male from Hamilton, was pronounced dead soon after arriving at the hospital. 

Due to the severity of the injuries, the HPS Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) was called in and has carriage of the investigation.

Vincenzino Stumpo, an 18-year-old male from Hamilton, was arrested and charged with:

• Dangerous Operation causing bodily harm
• Dangerous Operation causing death

Stumpo appeared in court on Saturday, October 12.  A bail hearing for Stumpo is scheduled for Tuesday, October 15^th, 2024.

Investigators are still seeking the identity of any other vehicles or persons involved. 

A stretch of the Lincoln Alexander Parkway was closed for several hours for the investigation, but has since re-opened. This is the City’s tenth fatal collision of 2024.

A 74-year-old male from Hamilton was driving his Harley Davidson motorcycle eastbound on Barton Street East, approaching Barnesdale Avenue North. A Jeep Cherokee, driven by a 59-year-old male from St Catharines, was westbound on Barton Street East. The Jeep turned left across the eastbound lanes and the motorcycle struck the side of the Jeep, ejecting the motorcycle rider. The motorcycle rider was transported to hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

On Wednesday, September 25, 2024, just after 11:00 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle and a car on Upper Paradise Road near Lunner Avenue.

The investigation has revealed that a 37-year-old male from Hamilton was operating a Honda motorcycle northbound on Upper Paradise Road when he attempted to pass another northbound vehicle driven by a 40-year-old female from Hamilton. The motorcyclist struck the vehicle and was thrown from his motorcycle. He was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) attended the scene to investigate. Upper Paradise Road was closed for several hours but has since reopened.

On Tuesday, September 10, 2024, shortly after 8:30 a.m., police responded to the area of Emerald Street North and Keith Street after an 11-year-old girl was struck by a westbound blue Ford Mustang. The vehicle continued through the intersection striking the young child, pinning her against a building.

The child was transported to the hospital in critical condition and now remains in stable condition with life-altering injuries. The driver of the Mustang was also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Person struck on Lincoln Alexander Parkway

On Saturday August 31, 2024, at approximately 10:21 pm a collision occurred in the westbound lanes of the Lincoln Alexander Parkway, in the City of Hamilton. A 30-yr-old male from Hamilton was on the roadway and was struck by a motor vehicle. The male was taken to Hamilton General Hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Hamilton Police received several calls regarding a person walking on the roadway of the Lincoln Alexander Parkway prior to the collision.

The driver who struck the male remained on scene and is cooperating with police. Further, a driver of another vehicle who swerved to avoid the male also remained and spoke with police. Alcohol and speed are not considered factors involved in the collision.

Driver Deceased Following Single Vehicle Collision in Waterdown. 

On Thursday August 15, 2024, at approximately 11:40 AM Hamilton Emergency Services responded to 687 Centre Road in the City of Hamilton for reports of a single motor vehicle collision involving a white Ford Econoline van. The Ford had left the roadway went into the ditch and struck a pole.  The driver, a 69 year-old male from Hamilton was found to be in medical distress at the scene and was transported to hospital where he was later pronounced. 

The Coroner’s Office is investigating a possible medical episode prior to the vehicle leaving the roadway. The Hamilton Police Service Collision Reconstruction Unit was activated to assist with this investigation.

A 67 year old male pedestrian was crossing Mountain Brow Blvd when he was struck by the Harley Davidson motorcycle.

According to witnesses the motorcyclist was driving eastbound around the bend from Limeridge Rd. behind another motor vehicle. As the motorcycle came out of the curve the pedestrian ran from the north shoulder to the south shoulder between the motor vehicle and in front of the motorcycle. Speed was not a factor.

The 67 year old male pedestrian was transported to hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.

On Tuesday, July 23, 2024, shortly after 11:00 p.m., Hamilton Police received 911 calls reporting a collision involving a black Dodge Ram and a white Toyota Corolla. The 42-year-old driver of the Dodge Ram was transported to the hospital, where they were pronounced deceased.  

Investigation has determined that the Dodge Ram was travelling eastbound on Dundas Street and crossed into the westbound lanes, striking the Toyota and coming to rest when it struck a light standard on the north shoulder of Dundas Street. Two individuals from the Toyota Corolla were also transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

At this time, the cause of this collision is currently under investigation and police are actively seeking any potential witnesses to this collision and urge anyone with information to come forward.  Investigators are also requesting any motorists in the area from 11:00 p.m. to 11:20 p.m. to check their dash cameras and any residences or businesses in the area with surveillance cameras to review their camera footage.

A 2005 Yamaha motorcycle, driven by a 29-year-old Hamilton man, was traveling westbound on Rymal Road West when it collided with a 2023 Ford Bronco, which was stopped at the intersection. The impact caused the motorcycle rider to be ejected into the intersection, where he struck a third vehicle, a 2021 Ford Expedition, traveling southbound through the green light.

The motorcycle rider was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The drivers of the Ford Expedition and Ford Bronco were not injured.

On Sunday, July 21, 2024, shortly before 1:00 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to a motor vehicle collision on Upper James Street between Dickenson Road East and English Church Road East in Hamilton.

At this time investigators can confirm a 2010 Hyundai Elantra, was traveling southbound on Upper James Street when it was rear-ended by a 2016 Honda Civic.
The Hyundai was driven by an 86-year-old and her 59-year-old daughter, both from Hamilton. The Honda was driven by a 24-year-old man from Hagersville. Both vehicles came to rest on the west shoulder of Upper James Street.

All three individuals involved in the collision were transported to hospital. The 86-year-old driver has life-threatening injuries, while the 59-year-old passenger and the 24-year-old driver have serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Hamilton Police are actively seeking any potential witnesses to this collision and urge anyone with information to come forward. On Tuesday, February 27, 2024, just before 4:45 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to the area of Trinity Road South and Butter Road West in the City of Hamilton after reports of a head-on collision.

A white Hyundai Elantra sedan and a grey GMC Yukon Suburban were involved in the collision. 

Following an investigation, Hamilton Police have identified the driver involved in the collision as a 36-year-old man from Caledonia, who was operating with a suspended licence. He has been charged with Dangerous Operation Causing Bodily Harm and is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, July 18, 2024.

On Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at approximately 8:15 p.m., a northbound bus, while turning left into the bus terminal from Upper James Street, was struck by a southbound motorcycle. The incident took place at the intersection entrance to the Hamilton Street Railway (HSR) bus terminal located at 2200 Upper James Street.

The eighteen-year-old male driver of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased at the scene. The sixty-one-year-old bus driver was uninjured, and there were no passengers on the bus at the time of the collision.

Hamilton Police Investigated a Fail to Remain Motor Vehicle Collision

At 7:18 am, the Hamilton Police responded to a fail to remain collision that occurred at Upper Ottawa and Rymal Road in which two suspects were observed fleeing the scene on foot. Officers were quick to respond to the area, locate and apprehend two males closely matching the description. Investigation led to identifying both males as, Barry White and Di yar Abdulrafar Majid, who were wanted by Police on outstanding arrest warrants.

Barry White was wanted in several investigations with charges that included a break and enter that occurred to a residence near Wilson Street, West, and Orchard Drive, in Ancaster, on March 11, 2024. During this entry the resident’s vehicle was stolen. In addition, he is facing other charges in relation to other stolen vehicles and several counts of failing to comply with a court order. Di yar Abdulrafar Majid’s outstanding warrant was in relation to the possession of a stolen vehicle.

Both males were brought before the court for a bail hearing today on their outstanding criminal warrants. Barry White was remanded into custody while Di yar Abdulrafar Majid was released with a future court date.

The collision involved a single motor vehicle. The vehicle collided with a traffic light pole resulting in the pole being completely severed. City officials responded to make repairs. Police are still investigating this collision.

The driver of the E-bike, a 36-year-old male from Hamilton was transported to hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.

The driver of the Dodge, a 34-year-old female from Hamilton was transported to hospital but succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival. 

The HPS Collision Reconstruction Unit was called in and has taken carriage of the investigation. The affected stretch of Concession 5 East was closed for several hours for the investigation but has since re-opened.

On Friday, March 22, 2024, shortly before 10:45 a.m., Hamilton Police Service responded to a motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles on Highway 52, south of Powerline Road in Copetown.

The investigation has determined that a white Chevrolet Impala was travelling southbound on Highway 52 when it lost control, veering into oncoming traffic of the northbound lanes, colliding with a black Ford Focus that was traveling north.  The white Chevrolet Impala eventually came to a halt off the road on the east side of Highway 52.

The collision claimed the lives of both occupants of the white Chevrolet Impala, a man and woman in their 80s.

The sole occupant of the black Ford Focus, a woman in her 50’s, was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and has since been released from hospital and is continuing her recovery at home.

Investigators are actively seeking any other witnesses and are requesting any motorists in the area at the time of the collision to check their dash cameras and/or surveillance footage.

On Friday, March 22, 2024, shortly before 10:45 a.m. Hamilton Police responded to a collision on Highway 52, south of Powerline Road. The collision involved two motor vehicles; a black Ford Focus and white Chevrolet Impala.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the collision are ongoing.

Both occupants of the white Chevrolet Impala, a male and female in their 80’s have been pronounced deceased.

The sole occupant of the black Ford Focus, a woman in her 50s, has been taken to the hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening.

Police will close a significant portion of Highway #52 near Powerline Road, during their investigation.

At this time, the police are actively seeking any potential witnesses to this incident and urge anyone with information to come forward.  Investigators are also requesting any motorists in the area at the time of the collision to check their dash cameras and any residences or businesses in the area with surveillance cameras to review their camera footage.

On Wednesday, March 20, 2024, shortly before 8:00 a.m., a male in his 50s was driving his vehicle in the area  of North Service Road and Fifty Road in Stoney Creek, when the vehicle struck a pole.

The male was the sole occupant.

Hamilton Police were called and assisted with life-saving measures. The male was transported to hospital and has since been pronounced deceased.

A vehicle travelling southbound on Cochrane Road proceeded into the railway crossing and collided with the eastbound train.  The 38 year-old female driver of the vehicle, and a 2 year-old passenger were taken to the hospital for medical attention but have since been released.

The Hamilton Police Service commenced an investigation into the collision and have charged the driver with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Criminal Negligence.

The driver was released and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.

On Wednesday, March 6th, 2024 at approximately 11:30pm, a pedestrian had been walking their dog on Jameston Avenue in the city of Hamilton.  A passing motor vehicle struck the pedestrian who was subsequently transported to the hospital as a result of the collision. The dog was uninjured. 

The vehicle was described as a grey hatchback larger than a sedan. 

Police are requesting homeowners in the area check their security cameras around the time of the incident.

On Tuesday, February 27, 2024, just before 4:45 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to the area of Trinity Road South and Butter Road West in the City of Hamilton after reports of a head-on collision.

A white Hyundai Elantra sedan and a grey GMC Yukon Suburban were involved in the collision. The Hyundai's 36-year-old male driver from Caledonia was initially transported to the hospital in life-threatening condition but is now in serious but stable condition with injuries considered to be life-altering. The driver of the GMC, a 34-year-old male from Ohsweken, was also transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation, and detectives seek information from anyone who witnessed the incident or has details about the events leading to the collision. On Saturday, February 17^th, 2024, at approximately 11:00 pm, Hamilton Emergency Services responded to a report of a pedestrian struck in the northbound lanes of the Red Hill Valley Parkway just north of King Street.

A 29-year-old male was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the involved vehicle, as well as other witnesses, remained at the scene and are cooperating with investigators

Both directions of the Red Hill Valley Parkway were closed for several hours as the investigation was completed.

The HPS Collision Reconstruction Unit was called in and has taken carriage of the investigation. All lanes of the Red Hill Valley Parkway have now been re-opened.

On Monday, February 5, 2024, shortly before 1:30 a.m., Hamilton Police responded to the area of Main Street East and James Street South for a motor vehicle collision.

Upon arriving on scene, police observed a heavily damaged grey four-door Toyota Camry and a bronze four-door BMW pressed against a building on the sidewalk at the southeast corner of the intersection. The occupants of the BMW, who sustained minor injuries, were transported to the hospital and subsequently released. Unfortunately, despite lifesaving efforts, the driver of the Toyota Camry, a 64-year-old man from Hamilton, was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Hamilton Police have charged Abdul Wahab Jouria, a 23-year-old man of Kitchener with Dangerous Operation Causing Death.

Hamilton Police extend their condolences to the family and friends affected by this tragic incident.

The investigation into the collision is ongoing, with police confirming that speed and street racing played are believed to play a role in the incident.

At this time, the police are actively seeking any potential witnesses to this incident and urge anyone with information to come forward.  Investigators are also requesting any motorists in the area at the time of the collision to check their dash cameras and any residences or businesses in the area with surveillance cameras to review their camera footage.

Police can confirm a collision occurred involving two vehicles and the investigation is ongoing at this time.  The Jolley Cut remains closed in both directions.

Hamilton Police have identified the two suspects involved in a collision on Eastport Drive that left two women seriously injured.

On Monday, December 4, 2023, shortly before 8:00 a.m., a three-vehicle collision occurred on Eastport Drive. The collision involved a 2024 white Volkswagen SUV, a black 2010 Nissan and a 2015 white Honda.

Two individuals associated with the Volkswagen quickly fled the scene. A bystander intervened, offering assistance, but the pair entered the rear seat, informing the driver they had a firearm, and instructed the driver to transport them to the area of Mead Avenue and Tate Avenue in Hamilton.

Two individuals from the Nissan were taken to the hospital with severe, life-threatening injuries, while the driver of the Honda was transported with significant but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police have identified the two individuals that fled the scene as, 31-year-old man from Brampton, Moyowa Omoniyi and 25-year-old female from Brampton, Tiana Edwards. A warrant has been issued for their arrest for the following charges. 

Omoniyi has been charged with; 

• Two counts of Dangerous operation cause bodily harm
• Two counts of Failure to stop after an accident resulting in bodily harm
• Fraud over $5,000
• Possess a counterfeited Mark
• Identity fraud
• Possess, use, traffic credit card
• Use forged document
• Robbery with a firearm
• Two counts of Fail to comply release order

Edwards has been charged with:

• Robbery with a firearm

Both are considered armed and dangerous. If they are observed, police ask that members of the public call 9-1-1-, do not approach.

Two people from the Nissan were transported to hospital with serious life-threatening injuries and the driver of the Honda was transported with serious but non-life threatening injuries.  

Eastport Drive was closed for several hours for the investigation.

The pedestrian has been positively identified as a 35-year-old male from the Waterloo Region.

The investigation confirmed that the male pedestrian stole the abandoned Honda motor vehicle located near the scene from Kitchener earlier in the evening and that it ran out of gas.

On Tuesday, November 28, 2023, just after 2:00 a.m. Hamilton Police responded for a report of an individual struck in the northbound lanes of the Red Hill Valley Parkway, just south of the QEW by a tractor trailer.   

The male was pronounced at the scene. The driver of the tractor trailer remained and is co-operating with investigators.

Both directions of the Red Hill Valley Parkway were closed for the investigation after police located an abandoned Honda civic near the scene in the southbound lanes.   

The affected stretches of the Red Hill Valley Parkway reopened shortly after 11:30 a.m.

A male cyclist was eastbound on York Blvd approaching James St North when he was struck by the driver of a commercial motor vehicle that was turning right onto James St from York. The cyclist was pronounced at the scene. The driver of the commercial motor vehicle remained at the scene and is co-operating with investigators. 

The HPS Collision Reconstruction Unit was called in and has taken carriage of the investigation. The affected stretch of York and James was closed for several hours for the investigation.

The cyclist had no identification on him and Investigators are working with the Coroner’s office to identify the male.

The E-bike collided with the pick-up truck causing the driver to be thrown from the E-bike.

The male was transported to hospital where he is listed in critical, but stable condition.

The driver of the Ford remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

On Saturday, August 26, 2023, shortly before 9:00 a.m., a black two door BMW was traveling westbound on the Lincoln Alexander Parkway near the Upper James Street overpass in Hamilton when it lost control, crossed the center median and struck an eastbound Ford four door SUV sending a woman to hospital.

If you were traveling on the Lincoln Alexander Parkway on Saturday, August 26, 2023 between 8:35 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. in any capacity we ask that you check your dash camera footage for any relevant information including:

-          Look for any vehicles matching the description of those involved in the incident.

License Plates:

-          Check for any visible license plate numbers, especially if you were behind or alongside the vehicles in question.

Suspicious Activity:

-          Note any suspicious behavior, such as unusual driving behaviour.

Road Conditions:

-          Record road and weather conditions, as this information can be crucial in reconstructing the incident.

Investigators continue to look at identifying a dark coloured Infiniti that was westbound on the Lincoln Alexander Parkway at the time of the collision. The operator of this Infiniti could have vital information in relation to this fatal collision and is asked to come forward to police.

Witnesses to this collision who have not yet spoken to police are asked to call the investigators at 905.546.4753.

On Saturday August 26th, 2023, shortly before 9:00 AM a black BMW motor vehicle being operated by a 23 year-old-male was westbound on the Lincoln Alexander Pkwy near Upper James. The BMW lost control, crossed the centre median and struck a eastbound Ford motor vehicle being operated by a 72 year-old-female. 

The 23 year-old-male suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced at the scene. The 72 year-old-female was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. 

Investigators are now looking for a dark coloured Infinity motor vehicle that was travelling westbound on the Lincoln Alexander Pkwy at the time of the collision. The Infinity is believed to have played a significant part in this fatality and the driver and/or owner is asked to come forward.

Witnesses to this collision who haven’t yet spoken to police are asked to call the CRU at 905-546-4753. 

On Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at 10:22a.m. a vehicle struck an elderly man as he crossed Fennell Avenue East. The driver of the vehicle was uninjured, while the pedestrian was transported to hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Police have charged the driver of the vehicle, a 91-year-old Hamilton man with Careless Driving Causing Death.

On Sunday, July 24, 2023, at approximately 8:15p.m. a minivan collided with a stand-up electric scooter on Rymal Road West near Garth Street.

The individual operating the scooter was transported to hospital.

The driver of the minivan has been charged with Fail to Yield from Private Drive.

Police have also charged the rider of the kick scooter with various charges regarding the status of the scooter under the Ministry of Transportation guidelines.
