Hamilton Police are issuing a warning after fentanyl-laced gummies were found during a recent warrant.  These dangerous substances, disguised as candy, pose a serious risk to public health and safety, particularly for youth who may unknowingly consume them.

What to Know:

• Fentanyl is a powerful opioid, up to 100 times stronger than morphine, and even a small amount can cause a fatal overdose.
• The fentanyl-laced gummies resemble regular candy, making them particularly dangerous for children and teens, as well as unsuspecting adults.
• The gummies are often brightly colored and packaged in ways that could easily be mistaken for legitimate, store-bought products.

Warning Signs of Fentanyl Exposure:

• Drowsiness or unresponsiveness
• Difficulty breathing
• Confusion or dizziness
• Slow or weak pulse

If you or someone you know displays any of these symptoms after consuming a product resembling gummies or candy, call 911 immediately. Time is critical in preventing a potential overdose.

Hamilton Police officers arrested two youth seen dealing drugs in the area of a downtown men’s shelter.

On August 21, 2024, Hamilton Police undercover officers were in the area of York Blvd and Bay St when they observed two males conducting drug transactions. It appeared they were targeting shelter residents.

Officers approached the males, who fled the area. After a brief pursuit, the two youth were arrested. They were found in possession of fentanyl, crystal methamphetamine and hydromorphone pills with a street value of over $8,500. One youth was subsequently released when it was determined he was acting as the lookout.

A 16-year-old male is facing the following charges:

On August 20, 2024, members of the Hamilton Police Service – Major Drugs and Gangs Unit and Division 10 HEAT (High Enforcement Action Team) executed a warrant in Mount Hope. The search uncovered a quantity of cocaine along with other evidence of drug trafficking, a large sum of Canadian currency, a conductive energy weapon, and a loaded .40 calibre handgun.

As a result of the investigation, 31-year-old Daniel Hickling and 29-year-old Aaliyah Sousa have been arrested and are now facing the following charges:

On Sunday, May 5, 2024, officers observed a stolen vehicle travelling in the area of Campbell Avenue and Grosvenor Avenue North. Vehicle was being operated by a male driver with a female passenger.

The stolen vehicle was seen pulling into a self-serve car wash at the intersection of Main Street East and Prospect Street South. The male driver exited the vehicle and began to wash it, while a female passenger remained inside. Officers approached and arrested both the man and the woman without incident.

Police conducted a search incident to arrest of a black cross body satchel on Kyle Hunt, which yielded 42.15g of meth, fentanyl 11.37g, 27 dilauded pills, and $610.00 Canadian currency in various denominations.

Police conducted a search incident to arrest of PUTIGNANO, which yielded 0.58g fentanyl, 33.09 g cocaine, 6 clonazepam pills and $660.00 Canadian currency in various denominations.

An arrest of a 43-year-old man for impaired driving leads to police seizing a loaded firearm.

On Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at approximately 4:00 a.m. Hamilton Police responded to a possible impaired driver at a fast food restaurant on Cootes Drive. Upon arrival, police located a silver Jeep Grand Cherokee parked in the drive-thru with an unresponsive single passenger in the driver’s seat of the vehicle.

Police gained entry to the vehicle and checked on the wellbeing of the driver, who was hunched over and appeared sweaty. The driver eventually gained consciousness and was disoriented and unsteady on his feet.

Police arrested the 43-year-old man after locating drugs and evidence to support drug use.

During a search of the vehicle, police located the following;

• 2 glass pipes with residue
• An unloaded Smith and Wesson M and P handgun
• Two magazines containing .45 calibre rounds
• 20 pills of oxycodone

In the early morning hours of Sunday, September 3, 2023, a 32-year-old man was robbed of cash at gunpoint in the area of James Street North and Cannon Street West.  Hamilton Police Division One detectives continued the investigation, determined that it was a targeted attack and identified the suspect as a 43-year-old Hamilton man.

Hamilton Police seized drugs, weapons and arrested a 30-year-old man of Hamilton at Woodlands Park during proactive foot patrols to address ongoing community issues involving frequent drug overdoses and violent assaults.

On Friday, July 14, 2023, police were conducting foot patrols through Woodlands Park, when they observed a male in the distance carrying a hard case. Police began to walk in the direction of the male, who then placed the case behind a tent and left the area. Police searched the case and located a compound bow and 2 arrows, which were seized for public safety.

On Monday, July 17, 2023, police were conducting foot patrols at Woodlands Park, when they observed drug paraphernalia and drug residue near a group of individuals. As a result, police arrested Khadar Houssein Ibrahim, a 30-year-old man of Hamilton for the following charges:

Hamilton Police Major Drugs and Gangs Unit has shut down two illegal psilocybin mushroom businesses in Hamilton’s east end.

On Thursday, July 6, 2023, Hamilton Police executed search warrants at two separate illicit psilocybin storefront Businesses.

As a result, police seized over $70,000 in psilocybin and psilocybin infused edibles, as well as a quantity of cash from these two locations.

Hamilton Police arrested two individuals in relation to the execution of the warrants.

Hamilton Police remind the public that psilocybin remains a schedule III drug and a restricted substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (CDSA). Psilocybin is illegal to possess and at this time, there are no legal licensed options available, under which psilocybin dispensaries are allowed to operate.

Hamilton Police continue to relentlessly pursue offenders who are engaged in violence, drug activity and guns in the Hamilton community. Police have arrested two in connection to drug trafficking in Hamilton this week.

On Friday March 3, 2023, shortly after 5:00 a.m., Hamilton Police executed one residential and two vehicle search warrants as part of an on-going investigation.

Members of the Major Drug Unit had been investigating a drug trafficking ring that was believed to be distributing fentanyl and cocaine throughout Hamilton. The investigation extended to areas all across South-Western Ontario.

Police have charged two individuals and seized a large quantity of suspected high concentrated fentanyl, cocaine, and currency. Police also located a firearm along with five extended high capacity magazines with ammunition. Finally, investigators seized a motor vehicle that was involved in the commission of the offence.

On Thursday, February 23, 2023, shortly after 4:00 p.m., Hamilton officers conducted a traffic stop on a motor vehicle in the area of Queenston Road and Nash Road.

During the investigation, the passenger of the vehicle provided police with multiple aliases, until the identity of the individual was confirmed and officers came to learn that the passenger was on conditions to remain out of the City of Hamilton, except for appearance in court.

Police located the following during a search of the vehicle and passenger;

• $1013 in Canadian Currency
• A broken revolver starter pistol

On October 13, 2022, the warrant was executed. A search of the residence revealed a loaded handgun, 400 grams of cocaine, 10 grams of fentanyl, 150 oxycodone pills, 14 hydromorphone capsules indicative of drug trafficking and $5000 in Canadian currency.

On Thursday, September 29, 2022, at approximately 11:05 a.m., Hamilton Police conducted a traffic stop in the area of Wentworth Street North and Barton Street East. The investigation revealed that the affixed licence plates were not registered to the vehicle, the male driver was not licenced, and the vehicle was stolen. 

A search of the vehicle revealed two loaded restricted handguns and one loaded restricted handgun which was altered and capable of being used as a fully automatic prohibited firearm. The search also revealed one prohibited over-capacity magazine, a quantity of Cocaine and a quantity of Psilocybin (Magic Mushrooms). 

Hamilton Police charged the male driver with four traffic-related offences, as well as the following criminal charges:

Hamilton Police have arrested a 30-year-old Hamilton man following a residential search warrant yesterday.

In the afternoon hours of Wednesday, August 24, 2022, Hamilton Police executed a residential search warrant in the area of Mud Street and Winterberry Drive on the city’s east mountain.

One male has been arrested and remains in custody.

During the execution of the warrant a quantity of illicit drugs were seized with an approximate value of $15,000 dollars.

A loaded 40 Calibre Handgun, over $72,000 in Canadian Currency, along with scales were also seized during the execution of the warrant.

In September 2021, Hamilton Police launched Project Suppression in relation to an increase in shootings and gang conflicts in the city. The project, which encompassed multiple units from the across the Service, was designed to target illegal firearms and hold individuals committing offences accountable.

“We continue to see the effect illicit drugs has on all aspects of our society. We know there is the impact on violent crime such as shootings but we also need to be aware of the stark increase in opioid deaths in Hamilton,” said Chief Frank Bergen. 

Over a six month period, Project Suppression resulted in 37 individuals charged, 288 charges laid, the seizure of 28 firearms, 10 replica firearms, 11 prohibited weapons, 5 prohibited devices, over 500 rounds of ammunition, a hand grenade, $273,000 in cash and a significant amount of drugs.

The estimated street value of the seized drugs is $2,500,000. The project additionally resulted in the significant seizure of high purity Fentanyl that once prepared for street doses would have an estimated street value of $30,000,000.

“We continue to see an increase in guns on our streets. In fact, this week alone two traffic stops yielded two loaded handguns," said Deputy Chief Ryan Diodati.

A traffic stop conducted in the area of Barton Street East and Lottridge Street has led to the seizure of a firearm, illicit drugs and the arrest of a 31-year-old Hamilton man.

On Wednesday, March 2, 2022, shortly after 01:00p.m., Hamilton Police observed a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed and aggressively over taking other vehicles on the road.

Through investigation it was learned, the driver of the motor vehicle was a suspended driver. Subsequently, a traffic stop was conducted and a 31-year-old male arrested.

In September 2019, the Hamilton Police Service and the RCMP formed Project Skyfall in order to address drug trafficking and firearm-related crime in the Golden Horseshoe. With the assistance of Halton Regional Police Service, the fully-integrated team was mandated to uncover, investigate, and disrupt serious and organized crime elements in our community.

Over the two-year investigation, there were approximately 150 warrants and other court orders filed. In total, police seized 29 kilograms of cocaine, three kilograms of methamphetamine, 400 grams of fentanyl, and 440 pounds of illegal cannabis, which represented a combined street value of $5,518,000.  Investigators also seized 13 handguns, one long gun, other prohibited firearm components and weapons, as well as $765,602 in Canadian currency.

“We know drugs have a significant impact on Hamilton’s streets and are associated with an increase in violence and the rise in opioid deaths. Project Skyfall targeted a highly sophisticated drug trafficking syndicate involving organized crime groups in Hamilton. By working collaboratively with our neighbouring law enforcement partners, we were able to take a significant amount of drugs and firearms off our streets,” says Hamilton Police Service Inspector Mark Stiller.

 “The RCMP recognizes the importance of partnerships to address serious and organized crime in our community,” said Superintendent Jeff Cooper, Officer in Charge of District Command. “This investigation, conducted jointly with the Hamilton Police Service and the Halton Regional Police Service, serves as a great example of how a coordinated enforcement effort can contribute to safer communities and disrupt illegal activity, keeping illicit drugs and weapons off the streets.”

Project Skyfall was supported through funding provided by the Government of Ontario, Criminal Intelligence Service Ontario.

“Organized crime groups exploit profit opportunities wherever they arise. They do not care what city or town their criminal activities take them to. Those involved in these groups are only concerned about making money,” said Halton Regional Police Service Inspector Dave Costantini. “They do not care about the safety, security or well-being of any member of any community.  Project Skyfall demonstrates the success that can be achieved when police services collaborate to tenaciously disrupt and dismantle these criminal organizations.

Throughout the evening of Wednesday, December 29, 2021 and the early morning of Thursday, December 30, 2021, Hamilton Police patrol officers were able to observe two different vehicles in the downtown area in violation of the Highway Traffic Act.

In both incidents there was a strong odour of fresh cannabis emanating from the vehicle.

Through further investigation, police determined that in both of these separate non related traffic stops the drivers were in possession of illicit drugs, large sums of Canadian currency and other evidence to support the trafficking of illicit drugs.

Over the course of Project Munro, 24 search warrants were executed and 16 people charged with 213 offences.

Hamilton Police continue to relentlessly pursue offenders who are engaged in violence, drug activity and firearms in our community. Nearly 35 per cent of the firearms seized were found either loaded or unsafely stored. Several firearms had also been modified in order to enhance performance. Three heavily plated high-calibre bullet proof vests were also seized.

As a result of the investigation, police seized:

Over the past year, police in Ontario have seized tens of millions of dollars’ worth of plants and products from large-scale illicit cannabis grow ops and production sites across the province. On Saturday, August 21, 2021 shortly before 4:00 a.m., Hamilton Police responded to a building on Biggar Avenue. Upon arrival, the premise was insecure.

Police determined that the building was being used as a Cannabis Oil Extraction Lab and applied for a search warrant. Members of the Hamilton Police Service Vice and Drug Unit and the Provincial Joint Force Cannabis Enforcement Team executed the search warrant earlier today.

Due to the explosive potential of the hazardous materials within the building, assistance was provided by the Ontario Provincial Police Clandestine Lab Unit along with Hamilton Fire Department and Hamilton Paramedic Service.

Approximately 300 pounds of dried Cannabis has been seized, along with over 2200 litres of Cannabis Oil. The product is valued at approximately $45 million.

Various commercial grade processing equipment was also seized from the facility.

This investigation is in its infancy and further information will not be released at this time.

The investigation is still ongoing and charges have not been laid at this time.

Police seized a large quantity of fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine valued at a total of approximately $250,000. Police also seized over $20,000 of Canadian currency believed to be the proceeds of crime. A gun was located and seized at every location along with scales and ammunition.

An investigation into illegal activities by the Hamilton Police Vice and Drugs Unit resulted in the seizure of cash, weapons and drugs off Hamilton’s streets.

On Friday, April 30, 2021, Hamilton Police were granted search warrants for two residences in Hamilton and a vehicle used in the offences.

Officers seized a Sig Sauer .380 handgun, ammunition, a large conductive energy weapon, illicit drugs with a street value of approximately $293,575 and over $10,000 in cash.

On Thursday, April 29, 2021, Hamilton Police applied for and were granted a search warrant for an apartment in the area of Queen Street North.

Shortly after 6:00 a.m., Police entered the residence and located Zacharias Corridon, Jason Smith, Lawrence Ross and a male youth.

Hamilton Police seized approximately 50 grams of fentanyl, blast knuckle/ flashlight conducted energy weapons, drug paraphernalia consistent with trafficking, cash and more.

Four male were arrested and charged.

On Thursday, April 15, 2021, shortly after 10:00 a.m., Hamilton police were proactively patrolling in the area of Oriole Crescent when a grey 2006 Volvo SUV was observed traveling at a high rate of speed in a townhouse complex.

The officer attempted to stop the vehicle by activating emergency lights however the vehicle continued at a high rate of speed. Hamilton police disengaged.

A short five minutes later the same vehicle was observed by another officer on the south side of King Street East, just East of the Redhill Valley Expressway, three males were observed fleeing into a near ravine.

The suspects traveled through the ravine and were arrested on the south side of the ravine.

Hamilton Police K9 was deployed and recovered a loaded .22 calibre semi-automatic handgun and over $10 000 worth in narcotics.

A 56-year-old Hamilton man is facing charges relating to trafficking and exporting in illegal cannabis, police seized more than 296 kilograms of cannabis that was destined for the state of Illinois, USA.

Hamilton Police were called to an industrial area in Stoney Creek on Monday, March 1, 2021 shortly after 2:30 p.m., regarding a suspicious shipment being loaded onto a transport truck.

Upon arrival police discovered processed cannabis hidden in amongst the shipment.

The vice and drug unit was contacted, attended and began an investigation.

A search warrant was executed on both the warehouse and transport truck, yielding 653 bags of cannabis, weighing approximately one pound per bag.

A 56-year-old Hamilton man has been arrested without incident and held in custody.

The estimated value of the drugs seized is believed to be more than $4.5 Million in Canadian currency.

The cannabis was concealed inside sand blasting bags and stacked on skids for delivery. The shipment was destined for the state of Illinois, USA. The estimated value of the drugs in the USA would be approximately $5 Million US. The Vice and Drug Unit are working with the US authorities on this investigation.

“Based on the level of sophistication used to conceal the cannabis and the method used to transport it across the border police believe members of organized crime to be involved. The amount of drugs seized and the method used to avoid detection at the US border is consistent with high-level drug importing and exporting,” Detective Sergeant Jason Cattle, Vice and Drug Unit.

Police investigate the operation of an after-hours bar resulting in the seizure of a gun, illicit drugs and cash. Three Hamilton men are facing numerous criminal charges.

In November 2020, Hamilton Police were notified of a possible after-hours liquor establishment, operating in the area of Barton Street East and Victoria Avenue North. The information received included concerns regarding the establishment as a source of nefarious activity within the community.

Detectives reviewed the practices of the establishment. Through continued investigation, evidence gathered supported the existence of criminal activity that included the trafficking of illicit drugs. An application to search the premise was submitted to the court system. On Wednesday, January 13, 2021, judicial authorization was granted and officers entered the premise to conduct the search.

Police seized illicit drugs, an undisclosed amount of Canadian currency and a handgun.

Three Hamilton men appeared in court on Thursday, January 14, 2021, to face several criminal charges related to drug trafficking and firearm offences.

On Sunday, November 29, 2020, shortly after 9:30 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to the area of Barton Street East and Kenilworth Avenue North, for reports of a person with a weapon. Once on scene, officers located the victim, a male in his late 20’s. He advised that he was inside a local business when a male verbally accosted him. The male made several derogatory statements to the victim referencing sexual orientation. The situation escalated resulting in the male chasing the victim outside of the business with a knife while threatening his life.

As officers interviewed the victim, the suspect was located and arrested without incident. During the search of the suspect police discovered he was in possession of brass knuckles, an undisclosed amount of Fentanyl, pieces of identification that were not in his name and the knife believed to have been used in the incident.

The suspect was taken into police custody and his matter was addressed at the John Sopinka Courthouse on Monday, November 30, 2020, where he faced several criminal charges.

The victim was not physically harmed.

Officers from the Gangs and Weapons Unit seized a loaded 9mm Ruger handgun, illicit drugs and an undisclosed amount of cash at a mountain area residence.

On Friday, November 27, 2020, members of the Hamilton Police Gangs and Weapons Unit were conducting surveillance at a property in the area of Stone Church Road East and Upper Wentworth Street. Investigators had received a judicial authorization to search that property and a vehicle associated to it. At that time, the suspect was observed exiting the residence and placing a satchel in the vehicle. Officers approached the male and arrested him without incident. The warrant to search the vehicle and property was subsequently executed.

In mid-June 2020, Hamilton Police received a report of a commercial break and enter to an automotive business in the east end of Hamilton. During the incident, a Ford F150 pick-up truck was stolen. Over the course of four months, several commercial entries took place in the Hamilton area. The Hamilton Bear Unit has continued to investigate these incidents and has established a connection. The pick-up truck stolen from the June entry is believed to be involved in four commercial entries:

• August 23, 2020, entry to a business on Stonechurch Road East where a large number of vacuum cleaners and home healthcare items were stolen.

• August 26, 2020, entry to a pharmacy on Queenston Road in Stoney Creek. Pharmaceutical drugs and products valued in the area of $100,000 were stolen.

• September 24, 2020, entry to a car dealership on Upper James Street. Tools and automotive supplies were stolen.

• October 16, 2020, entry to a business in the Nebo Road area. A large quantity of sanitizer and cleaning supplies were stolen.

On Wednesday November 4, 2020, members of the Hamilton Police Service executed search warrants at two residences located in the east end of Hamilton and Hannon, Ontario. Located inside the residences were two shotguns, ammunition, over $100,000 in stolen pharmaceuticals, approximately $100,000 in stolen property and a quantity of cocaine. The items were all seized as evidence.

During the course of the investigation three adults were arrested. Their matter was brought before the court system on Wednesday, November 4, where they faced numerous charges related to firearms, commercial entries and possession of stolen property and drugs.

This investigation remains ongoing and detectives anticipate proceeding with additional arrests and criminal charges.

On Friday, October 30, 2020, members of the Hamilton Police Vice and Drugs Unit entered into an investigation of illicit drugs sales. Investigators received a judicial authorization to search two addresses in the City of Hamilton. While conducting surveillance on the addresses, one of the suspects was observed exiting the property and boarding an HSR bus. He was approached by a plain clothes Detective and arrested without incident. He was found to be in possession of a controlled substance along with a substantive amount of cash. Investigators then executed the two search warrants in relation to the suspect.

The locations included a residence in the area of Barton Street East and Lottridge Street and one near Charlton Avenue East and Catherine Street South.

As a result of the search warrant executions at the two locations, police seized a quantity of Canadian currency and Cocaine.

Three adults were arrested in relation to this investigation. They appeared at the John Sopinka Courthouse for a Bail Hearing on Saturday, October 31, 2020 and were jointly charged with drug trafficking-related offences.

After the execution of the search warrants, the Drug Unit assisted the Gangs and Weapons Unit who were in the midst of an ongoing investigation into the illegal sale of a firearm in Hamilton. The teams attended a commercial property in the area of Barton Street East and Woodward Avenue, at which time they witnessed a transaction sale involving an assault rifle. The sellers, a Hamilton couple were arrested without incident and taken into custody. They were later released and are scheduled to appear at the John Sopinka Courthouse on Monday, December 7, 2020, to answer to charges related to firearm possession.

A black assault-style rifle was seized as evidence.

On Monday, October 5, 2020, shortly after 11:00 p.m., Hamilton Police officers working in plain clothes, observed a black BMW sedan in the area of Grimsby Avenue and Britannia Avenue operating in a suspicious manner. Due to the actions of the driver, the officers requested assistance from a fully marked police vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted near the intersection of Main Street East and Fairfield Avenue. While investigating the occupants of the vehicle, police noted evidence to support the existence of illicit drugs within the vehicle. The occupants were both placed under arrest.

Through continued investigation, police located a quantity of crack cocaine and fentanyl, an undisclosed amount of cash, bear spray and other evidence to support the trafficking of illicit drugs. Police seized all items with evidentiary value.

The occupants were taken into police custody and later released.

A 19-year-old Hamilton man will appear at the John Sopinka Courthouse on December 15, 2020, to answer to charges related to drug trafficking.

A 17-year-old Hamilton male youth will appear at the John Sopinka Courthouse on December 18, 2020, to answer to charges related to drug trafficking.

On Saturday, October 3, 2020, shortly after 2:30 p.m., a Hamilton Police officer was in the area of Barton Street East and Harmony Avenue when they observed a white Honda Civic parked at the side of the road. A female approached the vehicle and was handed a brown paper bag by the male driver. She then walked away with the bag.

The officer investigated the status of the vehicle. It revealed the registered owner was currently on criminal charges for an illegal commercial entry. A traffic stop was conducted and as the officer approached, they detected the odour of fresh cannabis. Cash, receipts and a large food delivery bag with a well-known business name printed on the side, were observed on the front passenger seat. Through continued investigation, police determined the male was providing a delivering service for cannabis sales.

A 21-year-old Hamilton man was arrested without incident and taken into police custody. He was later released with a future court date of Wednesday, December 9, 2020, where he will face charges related to illegal cannabis sales.

Police seized drugs, cash and other documents as evidence.

The estimated value of the drugs seized is believed to be more than $600.00. All of the products did not have government-approved packaging or were equipped with appropriate legal branding.

On Friday, September 18, 2020, shortly after 6:50p.m, a Hamilton Police officer was patrolling in the area of King Street East at Sanford Avenue in the City of Hamilton. Police observed a female stepping out of a cab and recognized her as someone who was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant with the Hamilton Police Service.

A search of this revealed she was in possession of illicit drugs, cash and a prohibited weapon.

A 32-year-old female from the City of Hamilton was taken into custody and held for a bail hearing.

A 31-year-old Hamilton man facing criminal charges related to human trafficking was arrested and found to be in possession of drugs and cash. Police believe there may be other victims related to the human trafficking investigation who have yet to come forward and they are asked to contact detectives.

In April 2020, the Hamilton Police Vice & Human Trafficking Unit began an investigation after a victim provided information about a male suspected of human trafficking. As a result of the investigation, the male was arrested and charged with various human trafficking-related offences in May 2020. The male was subsequently released on bail with strict conditions.

Detectives have continued to investigate the male as they formed grounds to arrest him for violations to his bail conditions. On Thursday, September 10, 2020, the male was located and arrested for breaching his court release conditions. During the course of the arrest, police uncovered evidence to support charges related to illicit drug trafficking.

A Stoney Creek man was arrested on Friday after an illicit drug investigation. Police seized drugs, cash and a loaded handgun. He appeared in court last Saturday.

After gathering information about drug activity being conducted by a Stoney Creek man, members of the Hamilton Police Gangs and Weapons Enforcement Unit commenced an investigation focusing on his vehicle and a residence in the area of Upper Mt. Albion Road and Times Square Boulevard.

On Friday, September 4, 2020, an application for a Controlled Drugs and Substance search warrant was submitted to the courts. The warrant was granted the same day for the subject’s vehicle and residence.

Shortly before 5:00 p.m., the male was arrested without incident outside an Oakville restaurant and taken into police custody. A search of his vehicle resulted in the discovery of a loaded handgun, illicit drugs and an undisclosed amount of Canadian currency.

With the authority of the search warrant, officers then converged on his Stoney Creek residence where additional drugs, cash and drug paraphernalia were seized.

Tevon Williams-McKenzie was held for a bail hearing. His matter was addressed at the John Sopinka Courthouse on Saturday, September 5, 2020, where he faced firearm, proceeds of crime and drug-related charges.

A Grimsby man with ties to the Hamilton area was arrested yesterday after an in-depth drug investigation. He appeared in court earlier today to face firearm and drug-related charges.

The Hamilton Police Gang and Weapons Enforcement Unit has continued to investigate drug activity in the community. With the information gathered involving the criminal actions of a Grimsby man in the Hamilton area, an application was submitted to the court system, requesting a search warrant for properties related to the individual.

On Thursday, August 27, 2020, police were granted a search warrant for a residential Grimsby address located in the area of North Service Road and Winston Road and a vehicle belonging to the male.

With the assistance from members of the Emergency Response Unit, a 21-year-old Grimsby man was arrested outside his residence in his vehicle. He was searched and found to be in possession of cocaine, Percocet pills and an undisclosed amount of Canadian currency. Police also located inside his vehicle a loaded Glock handgun. The vehicle, a 2103 Mercedes Benz, two-door sedan was also seized.

Officers then entered his residence where they located illicit drugs, drug paraphernalia and a prohibited weapon.

Everton Frost was taken into police custody and his matter addressed at the John Sopinka Courthouse on Friday, August 28, 2020. He continues to face charges related to the possession of firearms and drugs and the violation of court orders.

On Monday, July 27, 2020, shortly before 1:30 p.m., Hamilton Police observed a white BMW sedan in front of a residence in the area of Wellington Street North and Wilson Street. At that time, two male occupants exited the vehicle and entered the residence. An investigation into the status of the vehicle revealed the licence plates were recently reported as stolen. A few moments later, one of the males returned to the vehicle, opened the trunk and removed another set of licence plates. He was arrested without incident, the second male noted the presence of police and fled back into the residence. During the search of the residence police located another male hiding. He was found to be in possession of an airsoft handgun and flare gun with active flares. He was arrested after police learned there was a warrant for his arrest. The male who fled into the residence was able to escape through a rear exit. Police continue to work on establishing his identity.

As police continued the investigation of the male at the BMW, they located evidence to support the trafficking of illicit drugs. The male was advised he would be facing additional drug-related charges.

The two males were taken into police custody and are scheduled to have their matter addressed at the John Sopinka Courthouse later today.

Members of the Hamilton Police Service conducted proactive investigations that resulted in the seizure of illicit drugs with a street value of approximately one million dollars. Police also seized two assault rifles, a handgun, various weapons, ammunition and a large quantity of Canadian currency. Five Hamilton residents are now facing multiple criminal charges.

The Hamilton Police Service Vice and Drug and Gangs and Weapons Enforcement Units have continued to investigate drug and firearm offences within the City of Hamilton. An application was submitted to the court system requesting search warrants for two properties as well as a number of vehicles related to the investigation.

On Thursday, July 23, 2020, members of the Hamilton Police Service attended a residence on the West Mountain as well as a residence in Ancaster, to execute two search warrants.

During the investigation, police seized cocaine, cannabis, Canadian currency, two assault rifles, a handgun, several other weapons, ammunition and drug paraphernalia from the residences.

In total, Hamilton Police arrested five people including one male youth. Two adults were

On Saturday, July 18, 2020, shortly after 6:30 a.m., a Hamilton Police officer on proactive patrol observed a Nissan Rogue SUV parked in a lot in the area of South Service Road and Centennial Parkway North. The vehicle was running and the driver appeared to be slumped over the steering wheel.

Through continued investigation, police formed the grounds the male was impaired by a drug and he was arrested without incident. A search of the driver’s area within the vehicle revealed he was in possession of illicit drugs, cash and a prohibited weapon. The male was informed of additional criminal charges based on the possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.

The male was taken into police custody and held for a bail hearing on Sunday, July 19, 2020.

On Monday, July 13, 2020, shortly before 8:30 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to reports of weapons call outside a commercial business located in the area of Fennell Avenue East and E26th Street, Hamilton. Upon arrival, officers obtained information that included a male was seated on the passenger side of a red sedan as he held a machete out of the window. The vehicle was located parked on the property and at the time, two males were seated inside. Police observed the driver was in possession of drug paraphernalia and an unsheathed machete was seen in plain view on the passenger side floor.

Through continued investigation, police determined the males were in possession of illicit drugs and cash. They were arrested without incident and taken into police custody. Their matter is scheduled to be brought before the courts later today.

A proactive investigation by Hamilton Police has resulted in the seizure of illicit drugs, cash and prohibited weapons.

In June of 2020, Hamilton Police began a drug investigation into illicit drug activity at local hotels. Their investigation led them to a suspect they believed was dealing large amounts of illicit narcotics.

On Friday, June 19, 2020, search warrant was granted in regards to a hotel room located at a hotel in the area of the QEW and Centennial Parkway North.

A short time later, police were in the hotel parking lot observing the suspect’s vehicle. They observed the suspect and a second male inside this vehicle. The parties were arrested without incident. A search of one male revealed he was in possession of illicit drugs and the second male was in possession of cash.

A search of the vehicle also recovered a number of illicit drugs and two prohibited weapons.

Hamilton Police Vice and Drug investigators then attended the hotel room where the suspect was staying and executed the search warrant. Inside, police located illicit drugs, cash and additional evidence to support drug trafficking.

The investigation resulted in the seizure of over $29,000 in Canadian currency and illicit drugs with a street value of $82,580.

The two males were taken into police custody and appeared for a bail hearing on Saturday, June 20, 2020.

After cutting off a vehicle, the driver was investigated and found to be in possession of drugs and cash. He is now facing charges related to drug trafficking, refusal to provide a breath sample and disobeying a court order. His mater is scheduled to be brought before the courts later today.

On Sunday, June 7, 2020, shortly after 10:00 p.m., while on proactive patrol a Hamilton Police officer observed a grey Honda Civic cut off another vehicle as it proceeded southbound on Queen Street from York Boulevard. The officer followed the vehicle gathering information. A traffic stop was conducted on King Street West at Queen Street North. The driver provided the appropriate documentation which confirmed he held a valid G2 driver status. While interacting with the driver, the officer detected an odour of alcohol coming from him.

Through continued investigation, the officer learned the driver was also in violation of a court-ordered curfew condition. The driver was arrested and searched. He was found to be in possession of a large sum of money. He subsequently refused to comply with providing a roadside breath sample.

A search of the driver’s area in the vehicle revealed the presence of a small powdery substance believed to be cocaine on the driver’s seat. As well, drug paraphernalia and a black satchel containing illicit drugs were discovered. Police seized the item as evidence.

The driver, a 21-year-old Hamilton man was taken into police custody. He was held for a bail hearing and his matter is scheduled to be addressed at the John Sopinka Courthouse later today.

On Sunday, May 17, 2020, shortly before 3:00 p.m., Hamilton Police became involved in an investigation in the area of Barton Street East and Strathearne Avenue. The investigation led them to a residence in that area which was occupied by several people. Through continued investigation, police identified a male inside the residence who was in possession of a loaded semi-automatic handgun, crack cocaine and a large amount of cash.

The male was arrested and taken into police custody where it was confirmed he was bound by an out of jurisdiction court order. The matter was addressed at the John Sopinka Courthouse on Monday, May 18, 2020, in the form of a bail hearing.

Later Sunday evening, shortly after 10:30 p.m., Hamilton Police officers were involved in an investigation in the area of Weir Street North and Britannia Avenue. At that time, they encountered a male who was not related to the original incident. While attempting to speak with the male his actions became suspicious and he attempted to flee but was quickly secured. Through continued investigation, police found him to be in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun, illicit drugs and cash.

The male was taken into police custody where it was confirmed he was bound by a court order. He was held for a bail hearing and the matter was addressed at the John Sopinka Courthouse on Monday, May 18, 2020.

Hamilton Police Vice and Drugs officers conducted an investigation and execute a search warrant at an address in the city’s east end and arrested a male and female who reside at that address. A large quantity of cocaine and cash were recovered.

On May 7, 2020, the Vice and Drug Unit executed a search warrant in the early morning hours at a residence in the city’s east end. During a search of the address officers located a large quantity of cocaine valued at approximately $400,000.00 and seized in excess of $150,000.00 in cash. A couple residing at that address has been arrested and charged.

In late March, officers from the Hamilton Police Vice and Drugs Unit concluded a drug investigation into this Ancaster man. That resulted in his arrest, a large seizure of drugs and cash and a charge under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act for ‘Failure to comply with an order given during a declared emergency.’

The Hamilton Police Vice and Drugs Unit continued their investigation into this Ancaster man, accumulating more information regarding his ongoing drug trafficking.

On Thursday, April 30, 2020, warrants were granted for a residence in the area of Golf Links Road and Meadowlands Boulevard, storage units in the area of Stone Church Road East and Dartnall Road and Appleby Line and Mainway, Burlington. Warrants were also issued for motor vehicles affiliated to the Ancaster man.

With assistance from the Investigative Services Division and the Division 30 Heat Unit, police seized illicit drugs, firearms, ammunition and a large amount of cash.

Nickolas and Marija Deschenes were arrested and taken into police custody without incident.

Nickolas Deschenes made a bail court appearance on Saturday, May 2, 2020, to answer to several charges.

Marija Deschenes is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, July 8, 2020, to answer to several charges.

In March 2020, police investigated concerns of drug activity in the area of a Barton Street East apartment. On April 23, 2020, shortly after 3:00 p.m., a search warrant assisted in finding drugs and cash inside.

A quantity of powdered cocaine was located in measuring cups waiting to be “cooked” and processed into crack cocaine. Digital scales and other drug paraphernalia along with a large sum of money were also found.

As a result of the investigation, four people were arrested and charged with related Drug and Criminal Code offences.

On Wednesday, April 22, 2020, shortly after 4:30 p.m., a Hamilton police officer while on proactive patrol, observed a grey Jeep Cherokee near the intersection of Cannon Street and Edgemont Street. The vehicle which was stopped at the time, suddenly pulled forward cutting off the police cruiser. The officer was able to initiate a traffic stop in the area of Campbell Avenue and Province Street North. As police approached the vehicle, they noted two male occupants. During the interaction with the driver, police learned his license had been suspended by the Ministry of Transportation several years ago. The driver was arrested and the vehicle was seized for seven days as a result of Ministry guidelines.

Through continued investigation, police located evidence to support the trafficking of illicit drugs inside the vehicle. The driver and passenger were arrested in relation to the evidence seized.

They were both taken into police custody for a bail hearing. Their matters will be addressed at the John Sopinka Courthouse later today.

Five adults and one youth were arrested after a drug investigation in the east end of Hamilton. During the investigation, a substantial amount of drugs were seized along with other evidence to support a large scale drug trafficking operation.

In early April 2020, members of the Hamilton Police Service Vice and Drugs Unit commenced an investigation into drug activity at a residence in the area of Kenilworth Avenue North and Cannon Street East, Hamilton. During the coming weeks, police obtained information which confirmed the trafficking of illicit drugs. An application was submitted to the court system requesting search warrants for properties related to the investigation.

On the morning of Friday, April 17, 2020, police executed search warrants and seized drugs, cash, replica firearms and drug paraphernalia.

Four adults were arrested and they appeared before the courts later that day. One female youth was also arrested and she is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, July 15, 2020, to answer to her charges. Police concluded the investigation on Friday night with the arrest of one outstanding party.

Resources from the Vice and Drugs, Emergency Response, Heat, Youth Office, Gangs Weapons and Enforcement, Criminal Investigations Branch, uniform patrol and Intelligence Unit collaborated to successfully conclude the investigation which has resulted in the seizure of illicit drugs with a value exceeding $1,000,000.

This investigation represents one of the largest seizures of Crystal Meth, Heroin and Fentanyl in Hamilton. The total weight of drugs seized exceeds 5 kilograms with most being packaged for immediate sale.

Hamilton Police have executed a drug warrant and made three arrests inside a hotel.

On April 15, 2020, shortly after 12:15 p.m., police conducted surveillance in the area of the Budget Inn on 737 King Street East in Hamilton. Police noticed behaviours indicative of drug trafficking inside two hotel rooms.

Officers from Investigative Units worked together to execute search warrants within the rooms. Three individuals were located inside and arrested.
