                        <title>Hamilton Police Make Arrest in Grays Road Shooting</title>

After an investigation by the Shooting Response Team, detectives were able to identify the individual responsible.&nbsp;</span></p><p><span>On December 5, 2024, investigators executed a search warrant at a residence in the area of King St and Sherman Avenue. As a result of the search warrant, detectives recovered a firearm and arrested a youth who cannot be identified under the </span><i><span>Youth Criminal Justice Act. </span></i><span>The youth faces the following charges:</span></p><ul><li style="text-align:justify;"><span>Possession of a Loaded Prohibited Firearm (2 counts)</span></li><li style="text-align:justify;"><span>Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm (2 counts)</span></li><li style="text-align:justify;"><span>Careless Use of a Firearm</span></li><li style="text-align:justify;"><span>Criminal Negligence</span></li></ul><p><span>Hamilton Police wish to thank the public for their assistance in this investigation.                         <title>Hamilton Police Seize Firearm Following Altercation</title>

During the altercation, a woman was struck in the face with the butt of a shotgun, sustaining minor injuries.</span></p><p><span>Officers arriving at the scene located the suspect attempting to leave in a taxi. Officers attended and became aware that one of the individuals was possibly in possession of a firearm. They have been charged with two counts of robbery with a firearm.</p><p>On August 23, 2024, the victim was contacted through a popular dating app to arrange a meeting. Upon arrival, the victim was attacked by three suspects and held at gunpoint. The suspects stole the victim’s phone and used it to make a financial transaction. A second victim was also attacked by the same suspects earlier in the evening.                         <title>Hamilton Police Investigating After Overnight Violence in Hamilton</title>

This took place at a time and location that was filled with hundreds of people, including children and families. As officers approached, bystanders alerted them that one suspect had a firearm.</p><p>A 23-year-old male was quickly arrested and was found to be in possession of a firearm, with a high-capacity magazine and ammunition. He faces numerous charges, including possessing a loaded firearm and possessing a prohibited weapon. The actions of these officers prevented what could have been a significant tragedy.</p><p>At 10:30 p.m., police were called to another disturbance in a parking lot close to the Winona Peach Festival where a group of four males were attacking another male with a baseball bat. The suspects fled when police arrived and the 53-year-old victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Police continue to search for the suspects.</p><p>At 11:45 p.m., police responded to a shooting in the parking lot of Peddles Tavern located at 1490 Barton Street East. A 20-year-old male and 28-year-old male sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were uncooperative with police. The suspect is described as a black male in his 20s with dreadlocks and a ponytail, wearing dark clothing and a hoodie.</p><p>On August 25, at 6:00 a.m., Hamilton Police responded to shots fired at Club 33, 33 Bowen Street. Upon arrival, police located three victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Two males and a female victim were transported to hospital with serious injuries. All victims are in their 20s.</p><p>The suspect is described as a white male, with blonde hair, light beard, wearing a black Blue Jays baseball cap, white shirt and black jeans.</p><p>There have been ongoing issues with licensed establishments in the area. Hamilton Police continue to work closely with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario to revoke licenses to address the violent incidents at these locations.</p><p>The Shooting Response Team has taken over the investigations into the shootings.</p><p>Hamilton Police continue to encourage anyone with information into these incidents to come forward to police.                         <title>Police Release Video of Central Hamilton Shooting</title>

The victim, an adult male in his 50’s was transported to hospital for non-life threatening injuries and has since been released from hospital.</span></p><p><span>Investigators believe that the shooting occurred between two individuals. Evidence gathered to date suggests these individuals are both believed to have been armed. One of the suspects was observed operating a grey BMW sedan. Police have since recovered this vehicle.</span></p><p><span>At this time, investigators are seeking to identify two suspects:</span></p><p><span><strong>Suspect #1 </strong>- The driver of the BMW described as:</span></p><ul><li><span>Male, white, wearing a black hooded-sweater, black pants and white running shoes. Investigators are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying Suspect #1 and have released a video clip depicting Suspect #1.&nbsp;</span></p><p><span>There is no evidence at this time to confirm if Suspect #1 discharged his firearm at Suspect #2.</span></p><p><span>Investigators are also continuing their attempt to identify witnesses that were in the immediate area at the time of the shooting.&nbsp; These witnesses have yet to come forward to investigators.</span></p><p><span>Hamilton Police are asking residents in the area to review their security surveillance cameras between the hours of 10:45 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. for any suspicious activity and to contact police. The suspects fled in a vehicle prior to police arrival.</span></p><p><span>Through continued investigation, police learned two males were involved in the robbery, entered the business and directed staff to open the safe. Following a search, police arrested the suspect at the intersection of Main Street and Hughson Street. Police searched and located a male fitting the suspect's description walking near King Street and Emerald Street. The officers executed a gunpoint arrest. &nbsp;Subsequent to the arrest, a search revealed a pellet gun and a butterfly knife in the suspect’s possession.</span></p><p><span>Hamilton Police have arrested 37-year-old, Christopher Macleod for the following charges;</span></p><ul><li><span>Possession of Prohibited Weapon</span></li><li><span>Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose</span></li><li><span>Fail to Comply Probation</span></li><li><span>Two counts of Contrary to Order</span></li></ul><p><span>Christopher Macleod had his bail opposed and will be attending court.</span></p><p><span>When responding to weapons calls, police must treat the situation as if lethal weapons are involved until a thorough investigation determines otherwise. Unfortunately, visually differentiating between real firearms and replicas is often impossible until the investigation is completed. Police officers responding to these situations must make quick decisions about the nature of the weapon, with potential significant and lasting consequences.</span></p><p><span>Air guns, including gel pellet guns, can cause serious injury when fired, and if designed to look like real firearms, they are treated as lethal weapons by law enforcement. The collision involved a 2024 white Volkswagen SUV, a black 2010 Nissan and a 2015 white Honda.</span></p><p><span>Two individuals associated with the Volkswagen quickly fled the scene. A bystander intervened, offering assistance, but the pair entered the rear seat, informing the driver they had a firearm, and instructed the driver to transport them to the area of Mead Avenue and Tate Avenue in Hamilton.</span></p><p><span>Two individuals from the Nissan were taken to the hospital with severe, life-threatening injuries, while the driver of the Honda was transported with significant but non-life-threatening injuries.</span></p><p><span>Police have identified the two individuals that fled the scene as, 31-year-old man from Brampton, Moyowa Omoniyi and 25-year-old female from Brampton, Tiana Edwards. This underscores our commitment to removing dangerous weapons from circulation and preventing potential violence.</span></p><p style="text-align:start;"><span>Over the last month, members of the Major Drug and Gangs Unit executed residential, vehicle and trailer search warrants resulting in a substantial quantity of suspected cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine, codeine, and oxycodone pills. The estimated street value of the illicit drugs exceeds $156 thousand dollars.</span></p><p style="text-align:start;"><span>In addition to the drug seizures, detectives located a handgun, prohibited extended magazine, prohibited weapons, and numerous rounds of ammunition. However, the search for three additional outstanding suspects continues.</span></p><p><span style="background-color:rgb(247,247,248);">On &nbsp;Sunday, October 29, 2023, shortly after 6:30 p.m., a black Lincoln Navigator was traveling in the area of Garth Street and Twenty Road when a damaged white Mercedes abruptly blocked their path. Four individuals exited the Mercedes, assaulted the occupants of the Lincoln Navigator, forcefully removed them from the vehicle, and fled the scene in the stolen Lincoln Navigator.</span></p><p><span style="background-color:rgb(247,247,248);">A 15-year-old male, a resident of Hamilton, has been taken into custody in connection with the Robbery with a Firearm. He has been charged with the following offenses:</span></p><p><span>·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Five Counts of YPC Robbery with a Firearm</span></p><p><span>·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Three Counts of YPC Breach Probation Youth</span></p><p><span>·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Two Counts of Fail to Comply with Youth Sentence</span></p><p>Further charges are anticipated as the investigation continues.</p><p><span style="background-color:rgb(247,247,248);">All occupants of the vehicle sustained injuries during the incident, none of these injuries were life-threatening.</span></p><p><span>The stolen Lincoln Navigator was located abandoned shortly after the incident.                         <title>Two Crime Guns and Over 300K in Illicit Drugs Off Our Streets</title>

We continue to relentlessly pursue offenders who are engaged in violence, drug activity and guns in our community.</span><span>&nbsp;</span></p><p><span style="background-color:rgb(249,249,249);">Since the beginning of the year, police have seized 153 firearms within our city. A citizen was walking his dog in the area, when a male exited a residence, began yelling and pointed a firearm at the victim. The citizen called police.</span></p><p><span>Police immediately set up a perimeter in the area, located the suspect and became involved in a foot pursuit, where the male suspect ran into a commercial business. Police affected the arrest and located a loaded 9mm Smith and Wesson handgun.</span></p><p><span>The accused, Devan Frank Butler, a 21-year-old man of Hamilton, has been charged with the following offences;</span></p><ul><li><span>Unauthorized Possession of Firearm</span></li><li><span>Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm</span></li><li><span>Possession of Prohibited Firearm Loaded</span></li><li><span>Tampering with Serial Number of Firearm</span></li><li><span>Point Firearm</span></li><li><span>Use Firearm in Commission of Offence</span></li><li><span>Careless Use of Firearm</span></li><li><span>Carry Concealed Weapon</span></li><li><span>Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose</span></li><li><span>Utter Threat to Cause Death or Bodily Harm</span></li><li><span>Assault (Weapon)</span></li></ul><p><span>Devan Frank Butler’s bail was opposed.</span></p><p><span>Since the beginning of the year, Hamilton Police have seized 80 crime guns, this is a 45 % increase year to date from 2022. &nbsp;</span></p><p><span>This is not the end. Several individuals were present and arrested in the area upon police arrival. When officers arrived, the male was observed seated in the driver's seat of a motor vehicle parked in the driveway of the residence. There was an adult female seated in the front passenger seat. When police requested the male to exit the car, he intentionally reversed his vehicle into a police cruiser in an attempt to flee. Unable to escape, officers seized the opportunity to safely remove the male from the driver's seat and arrest him.</span></p><p><span style="background-color:white;">During the investigation police located a loaded, semi-automatic pistol and ammunition in the vehicle. As a result, both the male and female occupants were arrested and charged with possession of the firearm.                         <guid>https://hamiltonpolice.on.ca/news/arrest-made-in-relation-to-school-threat/</guid><pp:caseid>540339</pp:caseid><description><![CDATA[<p style="margin-left:0in;"><span>Hamilton Police have arrested a 17-year-old male after a school was put into hold and secure.</span></p><p style="margin-left:0in;"><span>On Friday, October 21, 2022, shortly before 10:00 a.m., Hamilton Police entered into an investigation after receiving reports that a student at Westdale Secondary School received threats involving a firearm.</span></p><p style="margin-left:0in;"><span>Westdale Secondary School and schools in the area went into hold and secure until 12:00 p.m., at which point police brought the incident to a safe resolution.</span></p><p style="margin-left:0in;"><span>Hamilton Police have arrested a 17-year-old male and currently the investigation is ongoing and charges are pending. Police continue to work on confirming the existence of a firearm.</span></p><p style="margin-left:0in;"><span>Hamilton Police recognize the importance of school safety and how a threat of this nature can be difficult for students, staff and their families. Several employees and customers were in the store at the time of the incident.                         <title>Police Seize Loaded Shotgun During Overnight Traffic Stop</title>

                        <guid>https://hamiltonpolice.on.ca/news/police-seize-loaded-shotgun-during-overnight-traffic-stop/</guid><pp:caseid>489712</pp:caseid><description><![CDATA[<p><span>An overnight vehicle stop in the area of Birge Street and Victoria Avenue North has led to the seizure of a firearm, illicit drugs and the arrest of a 22-year-old Hamilton man.</span></p><p><span>In the early morning hours of Thursday, January 13, 2022, while conducting proactive patrol Hamilton Police observed a driver violate the Highway Traffic Act, subsequently a traffic stop was conducted and a 22-year-old male arrested.</span></p><p><span>The vehicle, a grey Toyota Camry was reported stolen. The vehicle was seized for further investigation, as a result police located a quantity of illicit drugs including methamphetamine and fentanyl.
